dance sneakers

I ordered a pair of these today at the local dance shoe store. A lot of people I know are wearing them. Your thoughts * Thanks

I actually just had a new pair arive yesterday... unfortuantely their about a half a size to small (new model for me) but I need them for Reno tomorrow! :shock:

I ordered Blochs too they did not have my size I think they come from Nevada she said

So, what you are you gonna do SD? Wear too small sneakers?

I like dance sneakers too, but am thinking of trying out dress shoes instead for a while. I just got a pair and the leather sole is fairly smooth and so I want to compare the friction chracateristics between teh two.

I have been wanting to get into them (litereally!) but have found the heels too low....as in, the balls of your foot & heels are on the same level.

Let me explain. I have really bad flat feet, with NO natrual arch & extra bones growing where the arches are (a curse to all the women in my family, it's genetic :roll: ).....sneakers in general are not comfortable for me, full stop.

The way I have been coping (& doing alright too) over the years had been going bare foot, as much as possible, and wearing footwear that are higher (but solid) in the heels but lower around the ball of my foot (creating a similar weight distribution to having natrual arches, so my heels don't end up carrying ALL the weight). Open-toes are more comfortable too.

Can anyone please tell me if ANY of these dance sneakers come with higher heels......? I would LOVE to give them a try......

I see a lot of teachers and advanced dancers wearing them, both male and female.
I think I'll stick to my strappy shoes though -- somehow I've always had this idea of "dance sneakers = love shines", especially among women wearers. I am hopeless at shines, so I don't want to send out the wrong message... Maybe this is just in my area, or maybe I'm totally wrong? I don't know. :?

They're the only kind of 'dance' shoe I actually own. Have the Capezio black canvas sneaks...LOVE THEM TO DEATH! All my good friends in the salsa scene own a pair, or two, or three! :lol:

I've seen ladies with high heels who are great at shines, so I don't think that you are right everywhere!! Perhaps this applies only where you are?

i have a similar problem and have to wear orthotics to prevent heel spurs. if orthotics can help you then try new balance brand sneakers - they seem to be the only brand that makes them in a 'wide' size, which accomodates my orthotics.

i tried the blochs but i didn't want to risk spending the money and then finding out i wouldn't get enough arch support. i've already got pairs of other dance sneakers gathering dust in the garage for the same reason.

I have a few pairs of dance sneakers from different manufacturers. I must say I love the (Bloch) stealth low-profile sneakers. They are increadibly light and have a fantastic spinning area at the front. Really nice.

I must say though that i still prefer the look of a shiny pair of patent shoes.

Sneakers are cool for the ladies to wear once in a while, maybe a class or two. Or just some dancing here and there. But I really believe that girls must do the bulk of their practicing in the same type of shoe that they will mostly dance in. Having high-heels on isn't the same as sneakers; hence if you are dancing in High heels, you should also practice in them. I don't really know how it feels to have high-heels on, but I'm told it really feels different wearing the sneaker than the high-heel dance shoe. Most of the classes around here always tell the lady not to wear sneakers to practice if they will be dancing in heels.

Although sneakers are very popular here in NY City, they are very limited to socials for a few dances and some classes here and there. With guys I don’t really think it makes any kind of difference.

But if you spend tons of hours a day dancing, the sneaker might just be a welcome comfort.

How bout dance slippers

I have the Bloch dance sneakers and they treated me well (or shall I say I treated them well??? :?: )

However, I want to try out some dance slippers. I think im ready for the jump!

Got my BLOCHS today, am ready for action ! they fit well and seem to turn with them fine
