Only in America...

...do drive up ATM machines have Braille lettering

...can pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance

...do drugstores make the sick people walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescription while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front

...do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the drievway and put our uselesss junk in the garage

...do we use the word "politics" to describe the process so well: "Poli" -- Latin for many, and "tics" -- meaning blood sucking creatures

... that someone would go to Wal-Mart, pay for a couple of hundred dollars worth of goods with a US$1m note and expect change

Heck, I'd be happy to give them change for that! Here, let me just go get my piggy bank... they can have all my change!

When I was in graduate school in Bloomington IN, one of my favorite sights was this little greasy spoon on Kirkwood Avenue. There was a sign in the window that read, "Braille menus available."

As for your alternative etymology of "politics"--

LOL. I've done that myself. Is there any reason why people should request the additional 700 calories (or whatever) in a regular drink. The 2000 calories in their value meal should be enough, don't you think?

I was wrong. A 64oz coke has only 600 calories (according to dottisweightlosszone stats for McDonalds) not 700. But the diet coke has zero. Hmm ...

Umm. Hate to tell you this, but only selected McDonalds' EVER made pizza.

Fortunately, one of the pizza-serving McDonalds is near me. The biggest MickeyD's in the world is less than ten miles from my house. They serve pizza, foccacia sandwiches, gourmet ice cream, and lots of other exotic stuff. That's the upside of living in a resort town. 8) Ha!

Mickey D's makes pizza?

I'm second to none in my admiration of the Number 4 Value Meal, but I must turn up my identifiably Italo-American nose at the thought of a McPizza. That sounds like a profanation, a crime against nature!

Unlike GR no part of me is Italian, but McPizza is just wrong!

Note to Scorp, before you even start--I am not participating in a what part of me is what thread. No way. Don't even do there! :nope:

Well, on the other hand, there's always the strictly juvenile behavior thread.... :?
