Sad news for the Tango community

I just received an email that the great Milonga teacher and master Omar Vega passed away last night.

I had to read the email several times hoping that I had misunderstood, but no, he is really gone.

Gayatri Martin has a blurb on her NYC tango website (Celebrate Tango) but it doesn't say much.

Don't know... no public word on the cause. But when I danced with him a few months back, his breathing was very labored and he spent a good deal of the milonga sitting out.

The email I just received said that Omar was in Buenos Aires. He felt unwell on Tuesday and went to the hospital, succumbing to a heart attack early this morning.
