So which if any are your favorite country and western artists?

Mine has always been Waylon Jennings.

Dwight Yokam. "All my Xes Live in Texas".
Randy Travis "I'm gonna love you forever and ever, Amen"
Dolly Patron "I Will Always Love You"

For classic country, it's a toss up between Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard :) I also love Tom T. Hall. His songs are fun sing-a-longs.

For modern country, I've recently developed an infatuation with Keith Urban :D

Oh and this just reminded me, the very first album (it was a cassette tape actually) that I remember buying with my own money was the "Poncho and Lefty" album that Merle and Willie Nelson did. I was only about 7 years old but I so loved that song. I think I still have that tape. lol I heard the song the other day on the radio and had to stop what I was doing and just listen. :)

Chuck Wagon and the Wheels.
The Dusty Chaps.

Only those who lived in Tucson in the late 70's and early 80's would be familiar with them; these were local country rock bands which had big followings locally at that time.

Jerry Jeff Walker.

He did a song called Honky Tonk Music which was one of the Dusty Chaps original tunes.

Dixie Chicks, "Goodbye Earl" (love to ECS to this)
The Man in Black was, of course, the Man--he even got to be a Columbo villain! :D

Did Jerry Jeff Walker to "Mr. Bojangles"?

Yes, he wrote the song; I think while he was in a New Orleans jail.

The version that was the big hit was done by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

It's hard to choose a favorite.

Some of my choices:
George Strait
Tracey Lawerence
Kenny Chesney
Sarah Evans
Tim McGraw

It's too hard to pick.....
