when u dance salsa.. in as much or little words as u like.. simple or complex.. however expressive or not u can be the passion will show in your words .. describe your inner feeling(s) .. put it down in writing.. share :D

Sabor, naughty fellow, are you trying to get off on this????

OK, my salsa is just DANCING! It undoubtedly involves, needless to say,flirting, gyrating hips, shoulders shaking so I would best sum it up by saying;

hot, electric, energizing, stimulating, sweaty(gee, a lot like sex!) and most of all, FUN!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

si si amiga.. but i'm asking how u feel on the inside.. not a description of the dance effect  .. if u just close your eyes and write straight from your soul.. given that we all express/write differently .. i'm thinking that this could be on interesting emotional thread :D

Ummm..the first four adjectives pretty much summed it up for me...I don't actually sit there and contemplate Newton's Laws of Gravity when I dance, rather I take it as it comes. I'm actually thinking nothing, or about the lyrics to the music, if anything. Should one be really thinking so profoundly when they are dancing? (Honestly- some guys tell me what they are thinking when we dance- about my tits, about their favorite song which we are dancing to, about a move I just made- or missed, etc.)
Why don't YOU start by telling us how YOU feel, Sabor?

fair enough coco :D .. well, i am a contemplator i'm afraid.. but i rather do it after the danceing.. i go sit under an apple tree getting inspiration and ideas with every apple falling on my head

Ok Sabor, while you are waiting for the apples to fall, I will give it a go  !

When I close my eyes & let other senses take over, there is an inner warmth, that seems to light up my physical being from the inside, via all veins & nerves, sometimes giving me goosebumps allover.

This doesn't happen every time, to every song, with everyone. But you know it when you are having one of this moments :D !

*sounds like I'm describing something else  *

Except with my wife, and even then not every dance, my passion is for the dance, not the one I am dancing with.

To be honest, I feel more like I am reacting to the music, the others on the floor, making my dance partner look good and giving a good lead. It isn't that often that I transend the body and mind to a higher plain, or euphoria, if you will, and truely become one with my partner and the music. But when it happens, it feels great and that is when people say we looked our best. I don't know what causes some dances to be so "on" and for two to become one, but probably the right mix of alcohol, music, floor space, etc. Those are the moments to live for.

The rest of the time it is just about having fun. But as a man advances in his abilities, I think he thinks more about giving the women the opportunity to show off. He has to become very unselfish and let the women get all the attention.

I don't hear the music consciously, cannot see anyone else apart from my partner, a warm comfortable flowing stream carrying us.... At the end of the song I don't even know what moves I've done, the passion of my dancing, the flair, the style. It all happened, and is now gone, like a dream, like a fleeting inspiration that was there and is no more, slipped through my grasping fingers.

Happens for a few songs when I'm in the right mood. Nothing else is worth talking about.

Listen without your ears...something in the soul of the music calls out to me...what is it? I do not know exactly. Its like hearing a call from the vast recesses of something within myself...something ancient, powerful and profound.

I see each woman I dance with as the divine feminine...doesn't matter who she is...she's a female, and there with me. So, I allow what I'm feeling to express itself through my dancing. Only with certain women who will "let go" can my true self shine through for them.

Many people only dance for themselves. Others for someone else. But if you dance for EACH OTHER...then something magical happens. I think of all the dances I had last night...and the most powerful/emotional one was just doing the basic with a few turns...but the connection I felt from the lady was so beautiful...so passionate, yet gentle and serene.

Too many people "let it all hang out" much to early on...if you are too wild and crazy, what do you have in reserve? What does this say about you as a person? The gentle soul...the girl who molds her dance to yours...it is so very simple...yet many make it complex.

And that is my answer...simplicity...not wild turns, nor fancy patterns. Even the most basic of moves...even if your latin motion is lacking, or you miss a few beats...are you in your heart? Your body? Where are you? When are you? What are you?

When both man and woman are in their hearts...;)

Searching under a tree for inspiration, as once a scientist got hit on the head... However, there was music playing this time, salsa to be exact. The brass caressed the body as the passing wind over the hills. The rhythm section seemingly felt like an army of insects, animals, carrying on their daily life, bringing food home, pleasently moving their spicies one event further from extinction...

Ok, in terms of feel we can only express the soul's emotions with physical attributes which we can all relate but have no meaning in the depths of love. For love is love and everything in the state of the soul can only be of love, to which the body reacts with different degrees of, as the ying and yang contain lots of some, and little of other, or the judeo-christian world claims a dualistic view of the same.

There is absolute silence found amidst a world of beats, the louder the music comes the stronger the silence becomes. The deeper the connection to that next, around, over, under you becomes. The body is absent yet can feel the infinity of the world the soul lives. The lightness of a winged member of the visible world becomes you. The body weight as much as it once felt the pull of gravity has yet to feel its physical pull the soul covers the area created by 2 dancing bodies. Nothing happens, yet everything is going on. The loud sound of noice understood as mambo, is the silence understood as the world of noice when one can not hear but everything is understood.

alone in that tree, meditating my way to the feels of the soul is but another reason why seing me in mambo and outside mambo always creates the same feeling. For it isn't mambo that is reaching to us, but the world inside us reaching to mambo. It has been called upon, and it has reacted. The bang of the apple on the head has waken an understanding that was always there but we knew nothing about. We have reached an euphoric feeling simply because we stopped thinking, and began feeling. The passion of dance... me and her... the two become what we are, one, the music just acting as the medium to a world of oneness.

I like this. =)

I feel the best when I get in the "flow" with my partner -- they don't try any fancy moves that might throw me off; we are in perfect sync ...

Hmmm. Interior monologue.

"Hey. Feelin the rhythm now. Let's spin. Hammerlock. Now slide your fingers down my arm. Yes, very sexy, very.... Uh oh--dude off to the right is getting a little wild. Let's CBL out of it. Dang! Now he's over here! Okay. Hammerlock again. Switch hands. Open break and then we can carve out a space on the dance floor....There you go! Heh heh heh! Now you can clear some space for us, sucka! Whoa! Was that me or did the whole band just drop a beat? Oh, hi! Yeah, I'm having fun too--forward spot turn, inside spin, open brea--what? Oh, is that guy behind me again? Don't worry, I'll drive--don't lose the beat, are you on the wrong foot? Okay, let's....Oops! Was that your toe or are just trying out a new shine?"
