Hey, I want to try out for a part in a broadway show(annie) but I dont Have very good dance moves :!: :?: for the audition  , im trying out for the part of pepper and i really want it. Im going to sing the song your never fully dressed(without a smile) if you have any dance moves i could use plese contact me thank you!

Have you rented the movie version from 1982 or thereabouts?
This might be a good place to start. Having not seen the movie in about 20 years, I seem to remember some tap dancing in the movie. That might be difficult to pick up without the correct background in time for an audtion.

You might even look at other Broadway musicals that have been made into movies. There would be many to pick from - but West side story, Grease, Chicago (though I don't know if Bob Fosse would do well in Annie), even the movie An American in Paris would be good.

Break a leg at the audition,
Scott

    That's precicely the the thing we *don't* want her to do! I know what you meant. Heh, heh.

Definitely go with Spatten/Scotts' (which do you prefer? =O_o=) ideas about renting the movies. If you can memorize some of the moves or motions the character does or goes through during that particular performance, you might get some good reactions from the people choosing the actors/actresses that they want.

Good luck!! :D

A little rhyme we made all the new thespians recite during initiations:

Good Luck is Bad
Bad Luck is Good
Say "Break a Leg"
And it's Understood.

Additionally I have been told that dancers, especially ballet, wish each other well before a performance with the french explicate "Merde". I always thought Theatre superstitions were a lot of fun.

PS - Scott sounds better these days. My ears(eyes?) have tired of the harsh sounding spatten.

Hi NB-

Did they say they wanted you to bring a dance routine of your own? If so, definitely tap. Probably they'll have their own movement people at the audition, they'll teach you a sequence and then you'll do it for them.

Break a leg,

Genesius

yes but i need a dance with no tep because i dont know how to tap, I know ballet and jazz and hip hip
thanks anyways

:D   :D That's so cool! Must remember to remember it! Very clever. =^__^=

Well then, it shall be Scott! Heh, heh; and I promise, no Star Trek jokes from me calling you Scottie! (Even though he was awesome!)

No prob! It's what we DFites are here for! (Though it was mostly everyone else giving the sound advice and me the luck!  )

:D :D More good luck from here! You'll do great!

I *DEFINITELY* agree with Pygmalion's suggestion, but if you find you can't sleep, take a benedryl (I *know* that's not spelled right -- go phonetically...)!!!!! Sure to make you drowsy in no time! (No I don't abuse benedryl; I'm allergic to cats {cruel Irony, I know... =>_<=}, and my friend Sarah's house -- which I practically *live* in -- has seven of them and two *huge,* hairy dogs. =^__^= I wuv 'em all!)
