Amateur Dancers....Oops!

Just got the new May/June issue of Amateur Dancers, the USABDA membership magazine.

Wow! someone wrote a nice little article about foxtrot. Cool - the first page of the article features nice picture of NY-area dancers Grace Fu & Victor Chiang. But there's one small problem....

One small problem... Are you taking lessons from SD and GR in killing enquiring minds with suspense

I think I've heard this one already...the picture with the article is of the dancers doing Tango, you can tell by the hold.

Well, AD also printed a picture of where it thinks NorCal is going to hold Nationals in 2006. They've got the wrong building...they picked one across the street from where we'll really be. We didn't even know they were putting anything in, 'cause we would have made sure they got the right picture.

Sheesh! Are you trying to make me dig through my pile of mail and actually READ the damn magazine? Okay. Fine. Treat me bad. I'll read it. :(

Cool then tell me about it, okay, please!! Pretty please with a cherry on a top.  :)

So is that the Nationals venue reflected in the glass, or something else?

Yes, the AD 'foxtrot' picture is of a tango hold as Laura says.

The thing I'm struck every time I read through that magazine is how hopelessly trivial and slow-moving a dialog it represents compared to discussions in forums like DF and its predecessors. Certainly there's something to be said for the print format, but generally more information is communicated here every few days than in a whole issue. No, I'm not nominating myself to pick a thread and summarize it for an AD article. Really. No. No way. Besides, I need to go starch my plastic collars...

Actually, to AD's credit it's where I first heard about DF.

Well, I'm glad that article finally worked out. It took a while to get run and, after I'd submitted it, I never heard another word until someone else here posted that they'd seen it.

Speaking of the current issue of AD, is that the one with an article on Michael and Beata? If so can anyone tell me if any of the photos are mine? Thanks.

The cover photo is yours. Let me leaf through and see if there are others ... Yes. There are two other photos inside, with the article, and both of those are yours as well. Gorgeous work, btw, SD. 8)

Yup. It's pretty obvious, not just by the hold. Take a look at their feet.

Thanks Jenn... I actually couldn't find my top two photos of them when the editor contacted me () so I'm glad that both he and you liked what I was able to scrounge up...

Hmm, think he'd be willing to send me a coppy or two? Guess I should e-mail him and find out, huh?
