Major kudos to DFers emeralddancer, Nik, and syncopationator. Emeralddancer did a ton of work behind the scene--for weeks. Nik did as well, and danced all day, and did an awesome show! Syncopationator was deck captain.

Must admit the show was FABULOUS!!!!!

Nik and Natasha certainly know how to turn up the heat and give 110% to each performance. Natasha and Nik 1st did a sexy cha and her dress (silvery metallic thing) was so very appropriate, showing off her moves, she has some fast moving legs! All I can saw was WOW with that hot rumba!!!!!! (but of course it was a paso masquerading as a rumba;) - hehee) Their Paso was dynamic and they really captured the emotion of the dance! Their jive number of course gets the crowd rocking and rolling, I mean everyone I believe wanted to get out of their seat and do the twist with them!

Olga and Kirill were simply divine dancing their smooth performances for everyone as well. My goodness it was like watching many of the "old" greats in the movies!! They flowed so well together, giving over to each mood and emotion of each dance they did. Do not be surprised to see them becoming the countries top smooth couple. They have what it takes!

Sync was outstanding as Deck captain and boy did he have his hands full on numerous occasions making sure couples were ready to get on the floor to compete and was on top of things to let the MC know who was not there so that they could be called to the floor.

So many people did such a great job of keeping things running smoothly. There certainly was high energy ALL day and the ballroom was continually packed.

I heard quite a few compliments on the wonderful job Lisa Bentley did with hair and make-up (of Glamor Puss). So very glad she was there for the competitors that needed this service.

If anyone wants to see their pictures from the competition (they should start going up tonight, but please be a bit patient as the photographer took A LOT).

I think my favorite time out of all of this was at the end speaking with Polina and seeing how very happy she was. Makes volunteering and being apart of a event like this (even being apart of my studio) well worth everything one would invest in their dancing. Because honestly, I have come to realize that ballroom dancing goes way beyond just learning to actually dance. It is a community filled with some of the most wonderful people that I have met and touched my life. For that I am most grateful and thankful to be apart of this.

Major props to Igor and Polina and all their helpers for a really lovely (and strikingly Yuletide-esque!) competition. HUGE step up from the cramped half-floor at the studio last year!
