North Star Chapter Christmas Party this past Sunday was a fantastic time (if I do say so myself)!! If you missed...you missed a really good time!! We had 85 people, good food and LOTS of FUN!! Thank you all that attended and we look forward to seeing you next year!


Got some bad news...North Star Chapter and Pharcyde Entertainment dance that was scheduled for Saturday, December 13 has been cancelled. Due to a new 'Hip Hop' club opening up next to the Dance Conservatory, it has made it an unfavorable atmosphere for our dancers. Pharcyde Entertainment sent out a recent email announcing they will have a NEW home in a few short months in a better neighborhood and a brand new facility. I will keep you posted!!

Got some GOOD news...Boleros will be holding their Christmas dance on
Thursday, December 18 at 8:30. Since the facility is rented out every
week-end during the month of December, this was the only evening they could have it. I hope you will join them in celebrating the holidays on Thursday!!

Club Bimini is NOT open to the public on any Friday night during the month
of December. They are booked every Friday for private parties. We will see you in January, 2004!!

Don't forget about the YCN Intercontinental DanceSport Festival and Dance Camp in Daytona Beach, FL. This is right in our backyard!! The dates are January 4-10...it only happens every other year here in the states...this is one event you do not want to miss!! You must be a USABDA member - you can join there! Top coaches in the country come in for this...adult private lessons are only $70. Group classes all day, competition and professional shows at night!! Getting ready for an upcoming competition or show...stop by Showtime Dance located in Boleros for all your dancing needs!! Consignment dresses and shoes as well as a full line of fashions by Tosco. The new Bourbon St. Station opens tonight!! Wednesday, December 10. 5 Great Clubs In One Fabulous Location - Crazy Horse Saloon, Mardi Gras, Studebaker, The Blue Room & The Karaoke Bar Doors open at 8, cover charge is $5. The NEW Bourbon Street Station is located on St. Johns Bluff (near Atlantic Blvd.) Dance classes will not start until next week...but on the calendar will be

Couple class on Wednesday and Line Dance class on Thursday. Debi will be posting more info soon!!

Hope everyone is doing well and doing lots of dancing. Not a whole lot going on last week-end, but this week-end...things are looking up!!

The new Friday night Swing and Latin at Cuba Libre was a complete BUST!! We didn't make it, but from what I heard Leslie and Isaiah had about 40 people at the club and there was a smooth jazz band playing from 7-8:30. They did their group class then a solo guitar played the rest of the night and didn't let them play any of their music...so needless to say they won't be going back!!

There is NO USABDA dance in Daytona Valentines Day and no USABDA dance in February in Orlando


A couple of reminders...
Rhythm Tuesdays with Heather...at Southstreet Grille in Tinseltown!!! Only 1 lesson and it begin at 8:15 PM . No cover charge!
Saturdays at Boomtown don't usually start until around 9-9:30 and there is no lesson...they will be glad to work with you, but they don't have lessons.

A 7000 Square Foot FABULOUS Dance Floor will be in store for every dancer at the upcoming Jekyll Island Convention center Valentine Tea Dance! Two dance-floors will be offered to the community for their dancing pleasure at the Sunday, February 8 Dance. The ballroom will open at 2:30 PM. One dance floor will be designated for advanced and moderate DanceSport(tm) movement and a second dance floor for practice and instruction.

Governor Sonny Perdue will send greetings and Georgia Department of Education will acknowledge the White Gloves & Blue Blazers Youth Program for its community efforts. And, honoring the graduates and community attendees will be award winning USABDA DanceSport(tm) competitors with the following exhibitions

* Carmen & Phil Limosneros - presenting The CHA-CHA by and
* Gold Metal Winners - Drs. Grace & Victor Bautista - presenting The PASA DOBLE

Hope all is well and you have been getting out and doing some dancing!! Got a few updates to what we got going on around town ... and ... the surrounding area ... looks like we got a LOT going on in April!!

Last weeks North Florida DanceSport Challenge was a FUN event!! There were on a few pro/am couples on the floor, but the ones that danced were GREAT!! We had a good amateur couple turnout and AAU kids were adorable!!!. This was a qualifying event for the Juniors Olympics and some of them will be attending the Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa in August!! Congrats to all who participated. As with most first time comps, it was small...but next year I think it will be bigger and better!! Some pictures have been uploaded to their website: http://www.northfloridadc.com If anybody has any pics that would like to share with them, please send them an email!!!

This week-end we have Kaluby's Grand Prix tomorrow at the Marriott Hotel in Southpoint at JTB and I95...Mr. and Mrs. K always do a great job with this event.

Well, If you have received our packet for the MidSummer Classic Xl (July 17, 2004) you have no doubt noticed a few discrepencies. In our enthusiam to get this information out to everyone, we didn't bother to proof read our packet. I will attempt to clear these little boo boo's up for you.

#1. The competition is July 17, 2004, not July 28, 2003.
#2. Like last year we offered a welcome party on Friday night. We will be doing that again this year. This a wonderful opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones. You will also have time to take a look at the ballroom. We will meet at the ballroom at 5:15 pm then leave to go to the Don Jose Cafe at 5:30. After dinner if you like you can come back to the ballroom to practice or just hang out. The ballroom will be open from 7-9. If you are planning to join us please RSVP to Scott and Sarah Coates at: [email protected]
#3. The American Smooth and International Standard events will be in the morning session and the Rhythm and Latin will be in the afternoon session.
#4. Your entry should be postmarked by June 30, 2003 to avoid the late fee.

Oh remember I said some of friends were going to Indianapolis for a USABDA comp...they did GREAT!!! Bill and Sharon Wheat made it to the finals in all their heats...placing as high as 3rd in some of their heats...I am so proud of them!! Brady and Charlotte Davis took 1st in Novice and 3rd in Pre-Champ!!! Congratulations to you!!!

Heard Boleros comp was small, but a lot of FUN!! The show was fantastic (what do you expect from Jean Marc and France...nothing less). Unfortunately we were moving, so we were unable to attend. I heard next year it is going to be held at a hotel which should increase attendance, stay tuned more information will be forthcoming!!
