I'm curious, for those of you that attend these events like I do. Any particular favorites. I've only really been to Chicagoland before...and that was before I really started competing. (But that's the one that bit me and said...hey you could do that too.)

I'm looking forward to the fall...cause I'm going to lots of events this year.

Chicago in August
Nashville in September
Harrisburg in October
Dallas in November

Hopefully...Nashville again in January for Worlds (It will be my first.)

We do between eight and ten a year. Fresno in May is absolutely the very best one . . . save your $$$ and you and Ron go next May. I promise, you won't regret it . . . especially if you will compete there.

San Diego, Atlanta, New Mexico, Arizona, Las Vegas, and san Jose are my favorites . . . not sure if all of these are sanctioned, espcially Las Vegas!

Actually, World's is at the bottom of the list for me. I'll be curious to read your comments about it after you and Ron go and compete in January.

I know world's is just a huge event. There's bound to be some "problems."

Unfortunately, we have a very nice "local" event on Memorial Day weekend. I think Fresno and the Memorial Day Dance fest were the same time this year. I know Albert went to Fresno last year.

I wish I had enough $$$ and enough vacation to do a good chunk of the events...but no such luck.

We might go to Vegas, I don't know. :)

Someday, as you guys move up in levels, you will need to do Fresno . . . it's just one of those places that get you noticed, and that's part of the game!

Vegas is the only one where we don't stick around and dance . . . we do a lot of clubbing and running around the town!

There's lots of stuff East of the Rockies.

Chicago, Boston, Florida, Baltimore, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, South Bend, Atlanta...lots and lots in the Eastern Part of the Country.

Excellent. I will check it out. I'm still trying to get up to speed with the competitive events. The dancing in a bar, I do. The competitive dancing scares me a bit, I have to admit. I'm used to ballroom, which is a totally different animal... mostly.

Why Jenn? And how so? From the little bit of UCWDC competition that I've seen (thanks to Vince) the whole C&W competition scene is just way more laid back than the ballroom competition circuit, which you've already dabbled in.
 
Because they're so d**n good. (Pardon the language) A lot of people, including me, approach these C&W events thinking it's easy. NO way!!! People at C&W events are really good at what they do. Yes, the entry fees are cheaper, and, if you ask me, the people are somewhat friendlier. But these competitions are not to be underestimated. Not at all.
 
I wasn't suggesting that they were, just that if you were already comfortable with ballroom competition that the C&W competition scene was lower keyed (NOTE: I am not talking about level!).
 
Yeah. They are a lot more comfortable, and a lot less fake, if you ask me (sorry, ballroom people!)

Maybe I'll just go watch a time or two, before I take the plunge. 8)
 
We're a pretty friendly bunch :) Thanks. And thanks for recognizing that we work hard at what we do...just like the ballroom people and the swing people. Let me tell all those spins and turns are dang hard to perfect.
I'm living through all the practices trying to do that right now.

I work with my pro for about 30 minutes and get a 10 minute break. Believe it or not...it's getting more and more typical for my private to be 2 hours. 2 hours of way hard work...fun, but hard work :)

If ya'll ever come out to a competition I'd love to meet you.

If you come to the San Diego event I'll probably be ther to socialize, take a few WCS workshops, and do some social dancing. Vince invited me to stop by and check it out last year and I had a great time for the afternoon/evening I was there.
