I'll ask again this year since a new season is about to start...

Do you have a favorite team college/pro?

What is your expectation?

Favorite team is the Miami Dolphins. I expect them to be a laughing stock, oh wait they might be already. Seriously though, with an inexperienced offensive line and no quarterback or running back to speak of, the defense is going to have to play like the Raven's D of 2000-2001 to have any kind of a succesful season. *sigh* I think its gonna be a loooooong season. Time to put on the Broncos colors

Packers - Never really know just what to expect of them at the beginning of each season, but they manage to finish strong; awful defense though, so I don't expect them to be in the SB. Have to wonder like every other Packers fan how long Brett Favre will continue to play.

Arizona Wildcats - Everyone here is on the bandwagon with this new coach who was an assistant with the big time Oklahoma program and is the brother of the OU head coach. He has yet to coach his first game here and there are a lot of expectations. The team has done poorly the past three years.

I'm a Broncos fan, but I think they'll be lucky to make the playoffs.

I don't have a good feel for who's gonna win the Super Bowl this year, but I do think people are writing off Carolina way too early.

Hmm... well, I avoid my other groups' pick-em contests...

I don't really have a die-hard loyalty, but I suppose I've had an historic interest in the Redskins (NFL) and the LSU Tigers (college) as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes (college).

I have a theory about why "non-football fans" tend to win the office pool.

Generally, everyone who knows something about football will generally pick the same way. But with the spread, it's much more likely that "conventional wisdom" will be wrong, and very atypical results will happen. Thus, the novice with no football knowledge has a better chance.

In other words, in a pool of 10 people: when the week goes as predicted, then 7-8 will be in the running. But when the results are way different than what the majority think, then 2-3 people will be in the running. And it's the same darn 2-3 people!
