:?: Back in the 70's there was a dance known as the Latin Hustle. Was this just a hustle done to latin music or different?

Yes, and it has a similar step pattern to West Coast Swing. It's tap-step, triple step, walk walk (1-2, 3&4, 5-6).

Wow! Spitfire. Latin Hustle stuff is hard to find, but with the help of my friendly neighborhood google, I found a couple websitesthat might interest you.

Lots of information on disco dancing in general including a few varieties of hustle. A "coming soon " page that's supposed to describe the history of Latin Hustle. Plus, here's the exciting part! :D A listing of episodes of the 70's-era TV show, Disco Step by Step, advertised as the first TV show dedicated to disco music. There were originally 45 episodes filmed, of which eleven are now available through the library of congress. The link directly to the videos page is http://www.discostepbystep.com/videos_loc.htm

Happy hustle dancing! :D

The Ballroom Dance Team that I've been on for almost 3 years has a latin hustle routine that is so much fun! Though the basic was a bit different from how you guys quoted it...
The basic for our routine was "swivel, swivel, touch-step, triple step." (1-2-3-4-5&6). Anywho... It was a lot of fun. We did it to 2 Unlimited's Are You Ready for This. But-yeah, it was a lot of fun... 8)

hustle

taught that for 12 or so yrs from when it first came out - was a contributor at the first pro. only syllabus meeting -- a great dance-- eventually bastardised to 3 count -- hustle is still danced in the u.k-- but you would not recog. it ! -- have a go at it-- you will surely like it

WOOHOO, I LOVE Latin Hustle!

Try Rico by the Barrio Boys, Now that We Found Love by Heavy D and the boys, Starry-Eyed Surprise with Paul Oakenfold, um, 100% Pure Love by Crystal Waters, and other songs with similar rhythm. They're a little fast, but it's only fun if it's fast! :-D Last night we were goofing around with it, and I kept getting off balance on my janky cheap heels, so I probably should have trademarked it Latin Krumple or something.

It's addictive!

Paso boy

Oh boy-- do you bring back memories with that song !!!, one of the best periods of my life where teaching is concerned, actually opened a club predicated on that dance. First nite ( a wed. ) 200 plus showed up !, I think todays younger dancers would really enjoy the passion and fire that dance engendered .
