It looks like Monterey and Reno are the two top contenders for our first Dance Forums Family get together, so now we need to choose one. In order to help with the decision, below are the official websites from each event. Please review, and then vote again with your preference. As always, if you have another preferred event, please post your comments below. Thanks! :D

Monterey Swing Fest January 15 - 19, 2004

Reno Dance Sensation March 25 - 28, 2004

I'll keep this one up about two weeks. I think that's long enough for folks to check it out, decide, and vote. And it still allows enough time for people to register, make hotel and plane reservations, etc.

I hope that works for you. :? 8) :D

Jenn :D

I have some things up in the air right now, and I don't think I'll be able to go. I'm buying a new house and there are a couple of babies due (not my wife!). Hopefully, I can make it to the 2nd Annual Dance Forums Reunion. I really do hope you guys can make this happen.

Even if we only have three or four participants, it will be a success, because it sets a precedent! :D Best of luck with everything, DM. :D Don't worry. We'll all still be around next year.

I voted for Reno because I really think it is the better option as far as offering more dance styles for our various members. Hope to see you all there! :D

I also voted for the Reno Dance Sensation. I'm hoping to actually make monterey also... but Reno is a definite either way.

FYI... I just found out that Michael Norris and his partner will be at RDS, which means Carolina Shag will be in the house. Such an awesome smooth swing dance... if you haven't seen this before you need to check it out. This is especially great for Smooth style ballroom dancers who want to learn swing but find the bounce/pulse of the rhytm styles to be counter-intuitive.

I voted for Reno, because the timeframe works best for me. I have a lot of stuff planned between now and the end of the year, and a few things slated for next summer already. So spring makes sense to me.

I voted for Moneterey, but can do Reno just as well.

Anyone know if the roads are clear by March going over Hwy 80??

Thanks . . .

As long as a storm isn't in progress or just ended I-80 is pretty much always clear. Usually within about two hours after a large snowfall the plows have cleared it up.

Ok, I think Reno event is getting to be the most popular. I'm pretty sure I can go to that one as well as Monterey. :D I've driven to Reno in March and didn't have a problem with the roads, but every year weather is different, so who knows.

Thanks to both of you for the road info . . .

Looks like we're planning to do this one and the Monterey event anyway, so either is OK with us.

Can't beat the prices for the Reno event . . . $110 event pass, hotel rooms at $89 per night, plus food and gas . . . about a $650 weekend!

Wait just one hot second here. You're asking me to brave potential snowstorms to come to this thing? Hmm? :x

Actually no problem. I was born and raised in Philly, and learned to drive very well in the snow. (Ice is a different story! ) So no problem. Wherever you folks decide to go, count me in. :D

Yes, up in the mountains . . . they get about 12+++ feet of good ski snow!

And don't forget . . . we're long overdue for that "big earthquake" to hit in CA, so that could make Reno, NV beach front property!

But have no fear . . . us guys will keep you warm and toasty on the dance floor, and we'll be doing our own shakin' on the old dance floor, so we won't feel the one in CA.
