Ashamed of having too many lessons !

You’ll find that a lot of people are jealous of other people passion, especially when they do not have their own, be that dancing, tennis or skiing, etc.

Why should you care what anybody thinks to the point of getting the cheapest dance shoes? Quality of shoes is very important. You do not owe anybody any explanation on how you spend money.
Just keep concentrating on what you want, not what others think.
well said. in Russia they used to say that the bad dancer always blames tight pants, but seriously anyone tried to dance well in tight pants, so what ever they say they may no idea what they talking about;)

I share ireniecat's hobby! :)

Sorry! Didn't mean to imply shopping is my hobby. I actually dislike shopping quite a bit. Was just teasing in response to jerseydancer's comment:

I have read somewhere that people who spend their money on experience like travel or a hobby much more happier and healthier than people who spend their money on things.

Couldn't help think of someone close to me whose hobby is shopping, and she's not particularly happy.

I love shopping for antiques. I love shopping for dance dresses--sparkly! I even, sometimes, like grocery shopping. (And I could spend soooooo much money at Tractor Supply. I'm also NOT ALLOWED to go there when they have baby chicks. Or baby bunnies. I DO NOT NEED more animals.) And tack stores...okay, I'll end up buying used, but I like looking at the pretty $4000 saddles even if I can't afford something that costs a little under seven times what the horse did.

I *hate* shopping for everyday/work clothes, and shoe shopping is pure torture (street shoes, dance shoes, doesn't matter, it's misery.) I will do just about anything I can to avoid either.
