How to get a CD out of MAC book?

for me it seems that MAC is just practical (especially with teenagers at home who like to download alot of stuff). Meaning very very rarely do I ever get pop ups. Rarely any spamming things or viruses. I like that I can have multiple pages open from a doc, pics, music, internet etc going all at once and STILL have quite a bit of speed and no lag time. On top of that it is great for graphic anything. And my son who is a major gamer loves it as well. crisp, clear, fast. (he does alot of online real time gaming)

so it works. And with 6 of us with user names and logins with 6 different tastes in music and such the storage capacity is sick!!!!!!!!!:D

Hm just noticed this thread, thanks ray.
As to ejecting a Cd you can also just click and drag the cd from your desktop to the trash, the trash will become an eject icon instead.

And I didn't even know you could force quit using the apple tab, I usually just use the ctl-alt-del version which is apple-option-esc

Glad to hear you're enjoying it Ray!

Nybz, hats off to you and the many DF-ers who have talked about the joys of being a Mac owner. You all know the bliss firsthand!

Ive had my macbook 6 mths now and had to replace the superdrive. in retrospect i dont think it was ever right but it finally just completely shut down. so i have been trying to burn a DVD from my IDVD and keep getting an error message about configuring the menus or something. Anybody know how to fix this? im thinking it is a program problem. Anybody know how to burn a DVD straight from Imovie? unfortunately im not usually awake and not busy during the help line hours so havent had a chance to call them yet.

I had to replace my superdrive, too, and it turns out to be extremely important to run Software Update frequently. Try that, before you do anything else. I also had a problem burning a DVD from iMovie, but I finally figured it out. Can't remember it now, but it can be done. The support section on the Apple website was useful, iirc.

Every time I see a new post has been added to this thread, I ask myself whether that CD has come out of the computer (yet).

You make me laugh Te.
you're right J- The update seemed to fix my Dvd burn problem. now i just have to figure how to burn straight from imovie. tried to make a one to one appt but the new website is causing a very "circular" problem for me. new website wants my activation number then tells me it has already been used. I know its been used, stop asking me for it and just let me log in- what was wrong with the old website?

You can't burn directly from iMovie, whose main purpose is to receive user's video and allow editing of it. Normally, iMovie output is passed to iDVD, then you edit DVD menus there. Don't know what version of iMovie you are using, but might be under Share menu to request passing to iDVD. If not sure, open iMovie help and enter iDVD as search term to determine correct way to pass to iDVD. When DVD menus are done, you can burn DVDs from iDVD. You want to use a good brand of DVD disk when burning (like Verbatim) and usually better to have slow burn speed. If have problems doing this, there is a support discussion forum at Apple web site. Go to Support->Communities, then go into iLife->iDVD section. Good luck.

laservet, ha ha. This thread has nicely evolved into something of a MacBook user's group... I love it...

:)

Love my mac! Fortunate enough to have one both at work and at home. :)

(I always use the drag-into-the-trash method of ejecting. Works for external drives and memory keys, too)

To Larinda

meh... I just think it is only so-so. When I buy another laptop it will be a coin-toss for me. Sure the gui is prettier, but beyond that I don't think it is all that special.

Larinda, fair enough. I got my MacBook Pro because I needed it for my current class for developing iPhone apps. My other 3 computers (2 being laptops) are a Dell, HP, and Gateway. They are all good computers!

My data is seriously scattered as a result--befitting the wonderful disorder that is my life right now!

:)
