Disney Swing Songs?

Has anyone else noticed how much swing music is in the classic Disney movies?

What's your favorite Disney song to swing dance to?

Mine is "He's a Tramp" from Lady and the Tramp (sung beautifully by Peggy Lee).

What are your faves?

lyndee,

Welcome to Dance Forums. I saw from your second post you do Lindy Hop. Not one I know yet (beginner WCS and had been introduced to Hustle).

I haven't a Disney tune suggestion or favorite, but will be thinking about this next time I'm watching a Disney movie.

"I Wanna Be Like You" from Jungle Book
"Bear Necessities," from Jungle Book*
"Friend Like Me" from Alladin

*with Louis Prima and Phil Harris supplying voices, of course there'd be lots of swing songs

Disney swing!

Oh yes, I have noticed :)
In fact, I just DJed my local lindy jam for the first time and the Disney song was a big hit! I'd like to see if I can play one every time. Here are a few that I have in mind. Please let me know if you know of digital download sources for the rarer songs at the bottom!

Covers:
Dave Brubeck- When You Wish Upon a Star (from Dave Digs Disney)
Louis Armstrong - basically all of his album Disney Songs the Satchmo Way
Larry Clinton & His Orchestra - Whistle While You Work
Harry Connick, Jr. - A Spoonful of Sugar
Duke Ellington and His Orchestra - Sister Suffragette

Disney Originals (from iTunesd or Amazon MP3):
Lady and the Tramp: He's a Tramp
The Jungle Book: Bear Necessities, I Wan'na Be Like You
Toy Story: You've Got a Friend in Me (several great versions of this!)

Hard to find: Let me know if you have any ideas for downloading these online. I've found the CDs for sale on Amazon, but that can be expensive.
Dumbo: When I See an Elephant Fly
The Aristocats: Thomas O'Malley Cat, Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat
Song of the South: I have no idea what sort of treasure trove of music might be on a soundtrack of this movie, but I bet it's swingin!

Well, the way I usually get hard-to-find songs is I try to find the song on YouTube, go to zamzar com, click on URL under step 1, paste the YouTube URL in, select mp3 in step 2, and have it e-mail the converted file to me, and then I just download it...it works really well!

Hope that helps!

I wonder what dnice would make of this.

But, back on topic. Do you get the Disney CD's? I forget what they're called. Disney Jams?

For the not so classic Disney we have:

Dig a Little Deeper (Princess and the Frog - Single Step Swing)
When We're Human (PATF - Lindy Hop)
True to your heart (Mulan - WCS)
