We are proud to announce that Pablo Veron will be back in London late this month for another series of SPECIAL MASTER WORKSHOPS. Pablo VERON is one of those rare tango artists: a vast source of tango dance movements as well as a hugely influential and transformative force.

Hmmm.

Based on attending two classes the last 2 years, I think I'll give these a miss. To be honest, they were mobbed, and I didn't learn much. And unless the workshops - sorry, the SPECIAL MASTER WORKSHOPS - are limited in numbers (ideally to about 5-6 couples at most), I'm not interested in those either.

But I'm willing to be persuaded - has anyone else any experiences of Pablo's classes?

I went to a workshop of his last year. He didn't appear to be interested in teaching and he only showed a bare minimum of his own movement, so there was little opportunity to learn by observation. I felt that my money was wasted, but then I spent a lot less than quite a few I met there who travelled a long way to get to London for the workshop. Setting fire to my money would have been more engaging.

So that'd be a "no" then... ;)

I'M surprised he doesnt having pickets from the hard line trad dancers
(who shall remain nameless)
I've no problem with taking nuevo classes.

But the classes I took were rammed, mainly with what I can only call "groupies". There were about 60 people at Hegracha's, for example, which is at least 20-30 too many. Plus, it was bloody expensive - £20 compared to the £12 normal charge.

I had one class from him many years ago. He arrived late and seemed disinterested in the class, talking with his friends in a corner.

I took a workshop with him last year. It was not mobbed, he was attentive & engaged with the students & responsive to questions. He gave me some tips that were helpful. My only problem was that he did not allow videos, I no longer attend workshops that don't allow videos because my memory is like a sieve, so I have not gone to any of his other workshops here.

p.s. - his workshops here run $10-$15 above the average cost ($50 compared to $35-$40).

Meh. Probably not worth it. I went to some of his classes earlier this year. I had an ok time and learned a thing or two. But largely I think this was because of who else was there... for our classes he asked one of our experienced local female teachers to assist him in demonstrating. She's actually really good, and went around fixing people's technique and giving one-on-one time with as many people as possible. He worked the room a little too, but not nearly as much. But he did seem pretty receptive to questions.

But..... but ..... he's famous!! He was in that lovely film whose name I cant quite remember!!! Everyone else will be going!!

Sure - and the classes I attended were fine also.

It's just that a 60-person class is, well, useless. I don't think anyone can really get much out of that size of class. And the workshop blurb doesn't say anything about numbers.
