Salsa in Cairo?

I will be travelling to Cairo in March for 10 days and I was wondering if there are any good salsa clubs there for social dancing? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

SalseraLaura, I am sure Sabor can give you some suggestions :D

(Don't worry, his bark is worse than his bite  )

The trouble with getting information on a website djpatricio is that you can't always be sure how uptodate the information is. Not speaking specifically about salsapower, I have found this out to my own cost :?

Therefore, there is nothing like asking a local

that is why i asked here as on many websites they are not updated or things are omitted, like entire countries!!! lol there are salsa clubs every night of the week here in Dublin and there are several companies running large international events, yet we dont get mentioned on most of these sites, so unfortunately i dont trust the information 100% no offense meant to the webmasters of these sites. These things happen.

Yes you're right, there's nothing like asking a local, but if you don't know a local you can look up info on the net and take the very simple extra step of emailing or calling the venue and asking if the even ts still happening...although this doesn't always work either. But, I do know that many a dancer was reffered to my salsa night here in Colorado thru Salsapower.com (even though they haven't got around to replacing my *&$#@@!# info yet) :!:

 Sorry, can't help it! Re the emailing thing, I have done that too  I currently have something like 40% response rate :? not very encouraging :(

Are you involved with the Irish Congress (May), or know anyone connected with it, by any chance?

Thank you Sabor I will definitely get in contact with them closer to the time to find out what is on and ill be sure to post here when I am going so that we can maybe have a dance.

Yeah I used to work for the company who run it but not anymore. I can give you any information you need though and anything that I dont know personally I can find out for you or get you in touch with someone who does know AKA the big boss man: Josh...lol

right SalseraLaura.. altho note, they are scheduled to go to Argentina for a Tango festival sometime during the last 10 days of February and will stay till end of March or so..
so, whatever communication u'd like to have with them is best b4 mid Feb.

Another option, if it suits u.. its simpler, is for u to contact me right b4 your arrival, by email (which i'll send u now by pm) and i'll just tell u the bottom line of where to go and at what days/time.. ciao.

my trip is coming up now next week, i will arrive on friday and im hoping to hit the floor that night. I have been in touch also with Reem Mansour and she has told me that the best nights are in jazz up in the hilton. Just wondering if there are any updates sabor on whats going on in cairo. Hope to have a dance with you next week if you are around.

Hope you had a good trip out SalseraLaura. When you pause for breathe, we look forward to hearing about your adventures in Cairo.

PS. Not that it made an ounce of difference, but I was watching the movie "The Mummy" on Friday night. There were some city shots which were subtitled "Cairo" and I thought, "Oh good! Wow! Cairo looks very interesting architecturally etc etc". I looked at the credits at the end and um, it said that the majority of the filming was in... Morocco :( I have no idea whether the "Cairo City" that I saw was:

a) Cairo
b) a city in Morocco, or
c) a computer generated image
