2006 USA DanceSport Nationals

Laura, my friends and I tried to buy tickets at 11:00 PM last night, one hour before the scheduled deadline for online ticket sales. However, the sales was taken down, and there was a note that it was taken down early by mistake and might be put back up. Well, I don't if it was every put back up, but now it says ticket sales has ended.

So, are tickets likely to sell out for any given night? I think the San Jose Civic Auditorium is a pretty big place, so maybe sell out is not an issue.

Sorry about what happened last night!

I am not worried about tickets selling out. As of close of advance ticketing last night, our "biggest" session was Saturday night, where we had only sold 650 out of 1500 tickets.

The Box Office will open on Friday morning at 7:30am, and Saturday and Sunday morning at 8:30am, so you will be able to purchase tickets all day those days. Only cash or check can be accepted on site.

Laura -

I just want to say a big thank you - you rock, posting all the announcements on the forum and responding to quieries promptly. You've put a ton of work and energy into making this Nationals a success - we'll keep our fingers crossed that it all goes off without a hitch (which I'm sure it will) and you can take a well-deserved break afterward.

THANK YOU -

Aww, thanks. Really, I'm just doing the best I can...I look around and I already see things that I personally would have liked to have done better (but that's just the way I am, always looking to do better). Anyway, the organizing team here at NorCal is a pretty darn awesome group to work with.

Good luck everyone this weekend and dance happy! See you at check-in! If you are from Dance Forums and want to out yourself to me, make sure you say HI!

For those of you flying out soon, note the new TSA rule:
NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED IN CARRY ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes all beverages, shampoo, sun tan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. Exception: Baby formula and medicines must be presented for inspection at the checkpoint.
For me, personally, this was a shock - I had to repack and ended up with an entire bag of liguids and gels. *sigh*

I just heard this in the morning while heading to work... grrr. I was planning to carry on everything.. packed super light.. GRRRRRR....

It's recommended that you get to the airport MUCH earlier than would have been necessary even yesterday - the delays should be huge given the new security regs... I was planning to include my make-up and hair stuff in my carry-on luggage - seems like that plan has to be scrapped:(

Here come the dance terrorists....with their fishnets, hairspray and stoned gowns. Could probably inflict more damage than the real deal....

Good luck to all!

Laura--I just want to third what DancerForLife and Mamboqueen have already so eloquently stated: YOU ROCK! You have done so much for USA Dance, and have worked so tirelessly and been endlessly diplomatic. I wish I could be there and volunteer for a couple of shifts! (We east coasters would be a great morning team; whenever I travel back to the west coast, I always find myself waking up super early because of the time difference.) Unfortunately, family issues are keeping me away this year, but I will be there next year.

Best wishes to the organizers, volunteers, and of course the competitors for a GREAT nationals!!! And special long distance CHEERS for all the DFers!!!

Those of us who cannot be there need REGULAR, DETAILED REPORTS from anyone who has the time!

Don't Panic about your hairspray!

Hi everyone,

Don't panic about your hairspray etc. Pack it up good (put it in ziplock bags so it doesn't accidentally leak in your suitcase). If you forget anything, there is a a drugstore (I think it's a Walgreen's) about a five or six block walk from the San Jose Civic Auditorium.

I was going to make up a map with the location of the Walgreen's and a bunch of restaurants, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Truthfully, I am quite far behind and am in a bit of a panic myself. (Deep breaths.)

See some of you tonight, the rest of you over the next few days.
