My ex-BF's first comment upon seeing our Masters (over 35/over 50) dance? "People that old shouldn't wear dresses like that"

Welllll, not many of us look like we did when we were in our 20s. Guys are luckier - we don't show much flesh, nor are we expected to.

I remember going to a dance comp a few years back at which a woman with the very saggiest skin I've ever seen was wearing a two-piece Latin costume with all of her midriff exposed. Ye gods! If I ever do that, please kill me. Please.

Not appealing. It was one of those What Not to Wear moments. What are the rules?? No pleated pants or mini-skirts over age 35? Something like that. Maybe there need to be What Not to Wear rules for ballroom costumes, as well.

I'm generally not one for New Year resolutions. BUT...
I got called out on one of my bad habits yesterday at work. So I think it was a sign that I need to work on that. So here's to a new year!! May I be a better version of me than I was last year!

LOL, that's where I keep it during the DAY!
How low do you drop it at night?

In the winter we keep things set around 65 all the time. In summer we generally go without AC at all, except for if it's really warm. Then we'll close up the house and set the thermostat around 83-85.

The same topic came up with my brother last night. He's strange (to me). He likes the house very warm in winter (73-75-ish), although will open a window in the bedroom at night), but then he likes to tkeep the house super-chilled during the summer. Thems the benefits of not paying for his own utilities! I wonder how his habits will change once he has to pay the electric/heat bill. Heh.

Hmph. Am bored. And restless. But also completely without any sort of initiative. Want to go out, but don't feel like driving there. Don't feel like watching a movie, too bored to read, too bored to nap. Tired but not sleepy. Craving fruits and veggies like a fiend, but not hungry.

Unfortunately, DH and I are in the exact same mood. Makes for an interestingly boring Saturday night.

Get drunk and snuggle. Done deal.

Random: I really hope the Oprah Network comes up with some non-reality/self-help shows. Otherwise blech.

Non-reality self-help shows? I have some ideas:

"Martian Make-over" - Each week an unsuspecting person is kidnapped by aliens and returned to Earth with a sassy, classy new look.

"Tough Love for Your Teen with Barney Fife" - The Mayberry deputy takes troubled kids and turns them around with his unique blend of Southern charm and hard-nosed discipline.

"Dr. Oz Meets the Wizard of Oz" - All your medical questions answered and wishes granted, from brain implantation and heart surgery to conquering fear and anxiety.

 Those are clever and hilarious!

Went to the beach today! I am such a water baby.
Also proud that even in the presence of ridiculously slim, toned people, I had the confidence to wear my bikini without feeling self conscious. Woohoo!

Love 'em. And I'm sure some tv exec somewhere has thought of something equally absurd, and actually *pitched it*.

Hilarious and oddly familiar-sounding. :-D

Unfortunately, Oprah's network is not looking promising, unless you reeeally love reality shows. Or at least that's my impression so far.

Burn The Floor was amazing!!!

Random observations/comments:
* Mark Ballas LOVES dancing, you can see how in to it he gets.
* I'm glad we weren't any closer, we would have been sweated on.
* The blindfold thing was cool but a little strange.
* The costumes were gorgeous, especially where all the girls had a different color of the same dress style, pretty!
* The stage was very pretty too, with the sparkly backdrops.
* When the dancers are in the aisles you can't help but notice how beautiful they are.
* Burn For You was my favorite number. That's Anya's and Pasha's but they were not in our city.
* I think I mentioned here that the cast was invited to our NYE salsa party, as it was in theater square, right across from their theater. Little did you realize, until you saw the show, that all they probably want to do between shows is eat, sleep and eat. They had a 2pm show New Years day and I can not believe they did it again a few hours later. The calories they must burn!
* If you go to a show when they're near you, I don't recommend a matinee, the theater will be empty. It's probably more fun with a big energetic crowd. Maybe other times it would have been busier, but this was 2pm New Year's Day. My friend was hung over and sleep deprived.

Non-reality self-help shows?

 I get it. Ever read Eats Shoots and Leaves? Punctuation makes such a big difference. *grin*

One could argue that most if not all self-help shows are non-reality, if you get right down to it. Try watching TLC, Bravo or Discovery Channel any day of the week. I dare you to find reality.
