An impressive facility in southwest Texas called me for an interview. I've been to Texas during hurricane season and it was pretty cool. This is closer to the gulf than where I was though. Closer to Mexico too. I really should get on the ball learning Spanish. It is 82 there TODAY. It is JANUARY. California is hogging all the sun, Texas is hogging all the heat. Either is an improvement on PITTSBURGH.
Congratulations and good luck, WW. But be aware that 82 in January means 108 in August, and over 90 May-September. Which is OK if you're OK with it. Pretty darn hot, though.

Lived there July of '03. I liked it. :)

But if I could pick today between the central CA position and this one, I'd pick CA. Hot in the summer, but cool winter months.

With L.A., Yosemite, and the ocean roughly only 3 hours away and Vegas, San Francisco, and more all within a good, long drive but still within reach...

Just tried Zumba for the first time...meep. I'm dripping.
But very fun, and a whole lot better for my knees than step.

LoL Ray they keep reminding me it's not the fun parts of California, it's like 2.5 hours from the ocean, it's not desert but its dry. I'm thinking, it is still California and I live in Pittsburgh.

I love zumba. I can't wait til next Saturday my salsa teacher is teaching a zumba class, it's gonna be awesome. Plus I gotta say he's pretty sexy when he's sweaty. I've always had female zumba instructors.

actually...usually the opposite is true...in fact step was developed expressly for the purpose of knee rehab...so if it is bothering you you are likely doing something wrong...either your bench is too high, your shoes are bad, you aren't stepping properly or are too far away from it...and conversely, you have to be very careful of lateral movements in zumba depending on your shoe and the move...

WW, the distances were fine for me. Good for weekend trips to places within reach in 2 to 5 hours drive. I enjoyed that so much, staying overnight on my excursions...

I might be doing something wrong then...I'll check with gym instructor next time I go for a step class.

a few things to keep in mind...if your legs are short you may not be wise to use extra risers...you ned to have shoes with alot of shock absorbtion.. you want to make sure you are getting your whole foot onto the bench and off of it..you do not want to let your knee pass your toes...you want to be about six inches from the bench as you are stepping onto it...you want an instructor who alternates lead leg b/c the greatest amount of load is on the first foot that comes down...

WW, they neglect to tell you that the exact location of that particular city has charms of it's own, as I know firsthand...
