My Lessons are going well! This week I am improving on my turns in the Cha Cha and Fox Trot. I so want to do the Spiral and Lasso turn for the Rumba someday.

going great! id love to get on with my samba, jive and paso doble but i'm really happy with my intl rumba, whenever i practice it, i see yulia in my head and how she does her dances with confidence and attitude and i try to apply it to myself

Going! I had an intro with Potential New Pro and unless we discover we're horribly incompatible later, he is NP. (Not a replacement, just someone who lives much closer. And besides, I'm doing Latin with him, which I certainly can't do long-distance, and which won't hurt the Rhythm any.)

And if you tell NP that you have only done a VERY TINY BIT of Latin, like HARDLY ANY, like Pre-Bronze only because Rhythm Pro couldn't get away with putting you in Newcomer anything, and you've ONLY done cha cha, paso, and jive, he will of course spend the intro on rhumba and samba. Still samba-dyslexic.

What lessons? Since March 31, 2 lessons, and no more until 4/27. That makes 2 lessons in a month. Next month will be about the same. June, too. TDNWMH.

so sorry jalex...wish I could give you mine today...I am sick but I know I am going to miss lessons in May so I am going anyhow...but I am not at all certain that it is a good idea...but he has danced sick so I don't expect it makes much sense to whine about it

Have sympathy with J alex when I had to miss a few lessons due to factors outside my control.

Improving every lesson now, after a period of stagnation and so that's good enough for me. New pro teacher's approach to tuition suits me. He seems to recognise my strong points (I learn the footwork for new steps very quickly) and as far as technique is concerned he realises that best approach is to tell me something, try it two or three times and, if I'm still struggling, to leave it to the next lesson when I'll have had time to work it out.

Last Saturday we had our first private lesson with our West Coast Swing teacher. DH and I have been attending her classes for about a year and a half, but never seemed to have the time to schedule a private. But since we managed to have a few ballroom privates, and she does her lessons in the same studio, we realised we should be able to do it. (And this week we'll do WCS, then rest and have lunch, and come back for a ballroom lesson ... yay!)

It wasn't as bad as I had feared ... at first. I was sorta expecting her to have a laundry list of glaring problems to fix, but she didn't ... until she had each of us dance with her a little. The rest of the lesson consisted of bits of sugar push, underarm turn and basic whip, stopping every microsecond to adjust weight placement, body rotation, head position, etc., etc., etc., then adjusting the connection when we started to move. All good stuff, but subtle and difficult.

I get the feeling we're going to spend a few more lessons on the basics ...

hour and a half of rumba drill and and silver latin rumba...emphasis on spirals and on not moving the non-standing leg....hour and ahalf on standard waltz focusing on frame, moving body first, and balance points...other than the cold it was a good lesson

Its going alright. I got the cross overs and the turns in the Cha cha and rumba. The one thing I am having problems with is the Rock steps in the Tango. How do you know when to go into them?

reviewed videos from wisc. state worked on the sore spots & being the girl who never thought I would do anything but latin has started standard!! My coach is pretty convincing i guess...it's gonna take a bit to get used to but i kinda like it already:cool:
