How are your practices going?

Lots of problem solving today. Which is good, I'm excited that we're getting better at figuring out how to fix what we're having trouble with. But I'm finding all the muscles I didn't use while on the nearly 3 month sabbatical from dance. From my knees to my belly button are soooo sore!

Wow...what a waltz!

Lately, we seem to be having many 'wow' moments in our waltz. Although we are still very far from where we want to be, but suddenly things just seems to be falling into place one by one. Wheeee!!!!

haven't posted in a while, busy getting ready for Ohio. practices have been somewhat frantic trying to get last minute corrections in body memory and routines settled in. I definitely need some time off after Ohio!

Very good practice tonight. Especially considering my back has been acting up, so I danced in socks (didn't want to aggravate things further with heels.) And I'm hopped up on cold medicine, so practicing VW, while it normally doesn't make me dizzy, considering sitting on the couch makes dizzy... Mostly just walking through our choreography, so that at least we aren't fighting the "What comes next?" monster during our lesson and can instead focus on dancing it better. Our practices are really going well lately. I think our break from dancing helped so much, got us back to where it's actually fun to dance. And practicing has always been my favorite part of dancing, so it's really nice to have that again. :)

Don't you just love those moments when things finally seem to click after you've put in the effort to make it happen! I love those moments of satisfaction :artsy:

Wooh, that is dedication when you have a cold and are experiencing dizzy spells yet you suck it all up and you go to Viennese Waltz practice. Given the fact that the Viennese waltz is done at a faster tempo then the English waltz and that it involves a lot of turning must have been challenging with your dizzy spells. To have completed that practice and felt that it was worth it for it improved your dancing must have felt amazing indeed.

Did you find it harder to dance in socks while trying to keep the weight on the balls of your feet without heels to help place your weight on your forefoot?

My instructor often talks about proper poise and positioning. With my shift from salsa to ballroom, I think I am beginning to get the proper positioning for dances like the tango and waltz but if I were to take off my fur lined high heel boots, I know my poise would be off again.

practice? what practice? Pro has been in Ohio all week. Tomorrow! yeah, practice with pro tomorrow! Showcase in 2 weeks! Oh no. Not ready. Yes, ready. No, need practice. Psycho girl coming out in 3...2...1...

I think it was actually good for me to dance barefoot instead of in heels. Thinking about all the shaping has gotten me out of concentrating on basic things like staying grounded, so I think it actually helped me feel what it's like to do the shaping without tipping over because my weight's all going the wrong direction. Although it's odd going for heel leads and my heel dropping 2 inches lower than normal. :)

I am taking two weeks...no lesson until the 6th...probably no practice until around the 1st...the car isn't even un-packed from ohio yet...and between substituting for grandparents day tomorrow, thanksgiving, getting the tree the next day, early christmas with in-laws before they fly south on saturday, and returning daughter to muncie on sunday, I can't even begin to have a week of rest until NEXT week....
