"TV Shows" showcase coming up... Need help with ideas for intl latin

Other posters got some things my sis and I came up with...

We also thought that Perry Mason, Knight Rider and maybe Batman would be fun. Sis also liked The Nanny, though not sure it'd be recognizable enough?

THIS THIS THIS. OMG. It never occurred to me. If you don't do it, Vero, I just might.

:(someone is already doing Doctor Who at our studio.... but! You should totally do it!!! In honor of us all, haha.

Mengus - Omg so many ideas! Boyfriend had recommended Magnum PI and Hawaii Five-O, I think I will now have to add these to the list of possibilities. And I loved Fresh Prince! I wonder if we can make it work

The Cops theme would be awesome. Plus - it'll be around September.... so cop outfits would be relatively easy to find?

BD4L- Didn't know that.... this just gives me a reason to dance to the song. Because I absolutely love it.

Latingal - I actually loved the Knight Rider theme..... And who knows, Catwoman and Batman outfits could be fun.

To everyone - I've already added so many songs to my "list" because of this forum. I'm so excited.... picking one will be hard I imagine :o

This is kind of a fun exercise in research.

Yea, my sister and I sat around playing TV themes on youtube, she played and I had to guess them (then I evaluated them for latin dancing). We had a blast.

One I did not include on my list, but I thought would have been fun was "Airwolf", but it got eliminated because it might not be recognizable enough....

I love the mission impossible song – but that would fall under movies….? And the production number last year was based on movies. L
I will add the Gossip Girl and Charlie’s Angels to my list of ideas! I think those could be a lot of fun (even though I know very little of Gossip Girl…and Charlie’s Angels was both tv show/movie)

And I can’t believe Glee didn’t cross my mind…. If I can find something: I will be using their “pretend slushie confetti”! (if allowed by the studio, of course!)

I listened to the Flinstones one.. it just seemed a little slow.. Maybe if I find a cool remix it could work? And someone is already doing Grey’s Anatomy, but thanks!

Thanks again everyone! This is more ideas than I’ve been able to come up with by myself…. Hopefully by my next lesson I can have a nice list of songs to pick from… I know I still have a few months: but the more time I have, the more we can practice the routine.
the version they used, and I don't know which one it was, was cool b/c it would be fast then it would slow down ...which made it interesting and created space for some interesting choreo

Air Wolf is familiar to guys who are in their 30s or 40s!

Speaking of Airwolf, Magnum PI, and other Bellisario productions...I love the NCIS theme but I'm not sure it's actually danceable...

Funny you should say that, I've seen two different couples use the NCIS theme for a tango. Remembering that, I dismissed it at first for latin suggestions, but listening to it again, I think cha-cha might be workable.

...I can't really see tango. Well, not a very good one without a LOT of tempo adjusting. I was thinking, listening to the full version, maybe a cha cha, but wow, it would be fast.

Doctor Who, now that would be REALLY cool, just saying. But I'm not hearing the Paso there (maybe it's just because I don't have the space in my room to actually try dancing Paso to the Doctor Who theme though), but I do hear V-Waltz. Now I really want to talk my partner into doing this with me next time we have a performance opportunity though-- my roommate has a plastic sonic screwdriver that we could borrow and he'd just have to wear a bowtie and I'd copy one of the companion's outfits. This will be amazing (unfortunately he's not a Whovian so it might take some convincing).

This is a little off topic and a little late, but I thought I"d post it anyways for future reference.

I Dream of Jeannie for a cute cheesy samba. Maybe Fame for a cha cha? Rumba to the Incredible Hulk.

+1 for i dream of jeannie for samba. or maybe "the love boat" but the bass is less defined:
i've still got the theme for greatest american hero ringing in my ear's I really had hope for that one, but... no also, the theme from M*A*S*H, but again, no.

you also might like a mambo/salsa with "chico and the man" http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=8A39x3LFeQE

i doubt you'll find anything more overtly latin sounding.

So. Just felt it would be appropriate to give you guys an update.

My instructor showed up this week with a huge grin on his face....

He had an idea! (We'd been busy practicing for our summer showcase, so production was not in our minds at the moment)
We will be dancing.... to LMFAO's "Get Crazy".
Now. I could care less about the Jersey Shore. And our routine will not have many fist pumps (thank god).
But it's a fun song, and despite having to slow it down - my instructor is just SO PUMPED to do our choreography... How could I say no to the man? (seriously, he started dancing to it in the middle of the studio!!)

So. That's what it will be.
It's probably good it won't be "gimmick-y". Apparently I'm learning an open cha-cha routine and that alone terrifies me. Having to act out like .... Snooki? That would be too much!

But anyways.
Thanks everyone for your input! I hope the ideas on the thread do some other people some good too :)
