yesterday's activities

TUESDAY:
Usually AM routine and drop off Child at school.

9-11--Office hours. Talked with a student who has less than a 2.0 GPA and is hoping to transfer to another school after getting her GPA up.

Quick grocery store stop, quick bite to eat, got changed.

11:35--Off to Towson!

11:30-2--Double Nik lesson!

2--Off to airport.

3:18--Pick up Job Candidate #3 at airport. I have no idea what he looks like, so I make up a cardboard sign with his name.

Make small talk on drive. He asks if we are going to go through any toll booths. Um...no.

4:30--Get candidate checked in at hotel.

Home briefly, have something to eat.

5:15--Take Child to dance. Just call me the Mom Taxi!

5:45-7:15--Junior I/II Jazz/Tap.
I watch them work on their routines and write in my diary.
Tap is to a jazzy version of "Please, Mr. Postman."
Jazz sounds like it is to "Doctor, Doctor, Give Me the News"

Home. Put Child to bed.
Put Self to bed, in anticipation of tough day ahead.

++++
WEDNESDAY:
Usual. Drop off Child.

9:10--Great Works II. Finish "Candide."

10:20--Postcolonial Literature. Achebe's Things Fall Apart. Good class, but lose track of time and student has to point out to me that I'm out of time. Whoops!

11:50--Lunch with Job Candidate #3.

12:40--British Novels II. Dickens' Bleak House.

1:50--Job Candidate #3 teaches a class in which he talks about fonts. One of my colleagues pretty much falls in love with the guy when he announces the topic. I'm really wondering what the students are making of this class.

2:40-3:15--I breathe in and breathe out in the sanctity of my own office, doing my own thing, like looking at critical articles on Achebe.

3:20--Job Candidate #3's presentation of his own New Media Writing.

3:50--Job Candidate #3 interview.

5:10ish--Home. Eat dinner. Think about responding to conservative sort-of friend on FB who wrote something nasty about Planned Parenthood (and got back up from her other conservative friends) and then decide that there is NO point whatsoever in getting into it. Let her have her benighted p.o.v. (The thing I have in common with this person is child of same age.)

Jog on treadmill...pretty much right after eating, which may not be smart, but this is my only opportunity to exercise. My right big toe bone and achilles are bothering me a little. They may be trying to signal that there has been too much jogging and dancing of late (Fa!), and/or that I need new running shoes. Shower.

Briefly encounter Child and Husband, who have just returned from Child's hip-hop.

7:30-9:30--Last regular VagMon rehearsal. Thurs is dress, Fri/Sat are the shows! We also get our show t-shirts, which I like. I am now the proud owner of EIGHT t-shirts with the word "vagina" on them! I'll bet not every person can say that.

Home...to no one. Husband chose this night to go to bed at 9:30. Apparently he had a sore throat. I take about an hour to wind down, then join him.

wed...teach class...tan, lunch with friend, call to aunt and chat about father's recent idiot attack...power nap, still exhausted from the past few days, plan class, eat early dinner, teach zumba at which time my right calve muscle decides to spasm and is now in a state of clench that makes bearing wait difficult...lovely...home to skinny marg, bengay, time with dh and a bit of a meltdown over the dad thing...and a rough nights sleep...feel like my body is also starting to shut down on me over the past few weeks of abuse...maybe even more than "start to"...feel very very sore and nauseous this morning....hoping it gets better

Their best prices are supposed to be on first and third Fridays, right? I may drop by the store tomorrow and see what the prices are like. :-D

<CCM gives Pygmalion "The Look."> I heard that! Aren't you supposed to be "keeping your butt in bed" all week? Didn't you in fact promise the doctor you would do this so he would not hospitalize you? Going to J.C. Penney's is not like getting up to go to the bathroom! Get back in that bed now!

Up early, happy, dreaming on train of several trips after retirement.
Get to work.
Called into Executive Office for meeting with Big Boss Man.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh WHAT?!!! SCREAM, nononononononononono.
The ultimate committee who can approve my paperwork - informed office that
the union is still "at the table" with government over retiree health care subsidy.
ARGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Ok, totally irritated back to desk.
Find myself in "take no prisoners mode"...feel sorry for co-workers who find
out about my high energy irritation level.
Go to long lunch, call DH, long talk.
DH is the voice of reason - suddenly. He always is when I'm "in a mood'
DH convinces me to look at this delay from a different perspective,,,and it works.
Co workers stay far away from me for balance of day.
Even boss man.
Call from #1 grandson (all of 6 years old) in Texas.
"NANA" thank you for all the "box tops" I WON last week because I had the most, are you coming to my baseball games?
NOW, that was a wonderful phone call, I decide, compared to the news I got.
Call from #2 grandson, 5 years old, who lives nearby - askes "can you come to grandparents day at my school? I'll read you a story NaNa"....I find myself smiling...this kid can really read...I mean...READ...long words and such.
DH smiles...and tells me "how can you resist, your such a NANA".
ok, so the day ended not so badly after the awful start to it.

They may be trying to signal that there has been too much jogging and dancing of late (Fa!), and/or that I need new running shoes.

i read once that you should buy new running shoes every 200 miles. have always ignored that advice 'cause I'd forever be buying new New Balances. but, yeah, little twinges start to happen when the shoes are beyond their useful life.

You. Cannot. Be. Serious.

A relapse of this illness *will* put you in the hospital. You will have no choice. Leaving the house b/c it's, say, infested with fleas, this is important and, although damaging and may cause relapse, necessary. Leaving the house to go shopping is neither important nor necessary.

Do not make me yell at you, missy.

The Great and Terrible J Has Spoken.

I'm sorry. It was just a passing thought, brought on by the false sense of security of being safely ensconced in my bed, playing on my laptop. A few days on powerful meds can be very deceptive. While I'm in bed, I feel good, but I am definitely not well or even close. Wow. I got up earlier today to get some soup and foolishly decided to put a load of laundry in the washer, since I was up anyway. I could barely make it back to bed. Yikes. DS is going to have to put the laundry in the dryer for me. I am as weak as a kitten. I'll be following the doctor's advice, from here on in.

Yesterday:

To HFKAM for packing and shipping
Lesson; one for the record books; I hope that if and when my mind goes, I will still have this memory, to keep forever
Back to HFKAM, pick up Spouse and go to supermarket; I am hungry; what was I thinking? $60 worth of grocery shopping later, go home
Get call on the way home; invite to lunch; as I am famished and the friend who calls is a new friend and we have much to learn about each other, you bet I'll join her! Eat Thai and talk for ages; way fun
Home, collapse

P...I hope you feel better soon

JA....glad to hear of the lesson wonderfulness...and impressed at how prolific you are in the friend accumulation arena...but not surprised

over here; much work today with engaged couples in the morning....deal with my dad who back peddles today because he hasn't got much choice...and try not to continue to worry about upcoming major life decisions that son has to make....happy to have a few leads on newly crashed into garage...take power nap...I am not myself on a variety of fronts...but hopeful that serious calve issue from last night seems to be responding better in the last few hours...and was able to do new zumba gig impressively....tomorrow will be the test

I'm so sorry about the garage. Who needs that sort of complication? I remember the day i crashed my garage door. I was stressed and distracted and just plain stupid. As I was opening my garage door, I backed out, probably thirty seconds too soon, before the door was fully open, and bent the garage door frame.

It was relatively inexpensive and quick to fix and I was the one responsible for it and the one paying for it. But still, it was just one more thing on an emotional plate that was already way too full. It stinks, the way things pile up, sometimes.

I hope this repair goes uneventfully for you, and as inexpensively as possible.

Thursday:

Up at 7am...shower, including washing hair and shaving. Dressed, move cars into backyard, pack last things that I hadn't packed yet. (STILL forget sports bra, so no running for BF and I :( )
Take suitcase, BF, and laptop to supermarket, where I buy hayfever meds and tissues. Walk to bus stop. Bus into town. Bus out to airport.

At airport 1.5 hours early. Check in, have mocha, wander aimlessly.
Plane!
Yawn. Book. Slight ear pain as we land. Planes are uncool.
At airport. Change to next plane. Repeat.
Bus at next airport to hostel. Excessively bumpy ride. This driver is crazy.
Arrive at town centre, decide to get off at info centre. Collect pamphlets on stuff to do, and then walk to hostel. Hostel is further out than we thought...takes 15-20 minutes to walk it. We're tired now.
Crash in hostel room and read for a bit. Our room is lovely - nice and big, bed, couch, spa. Very beautiful.
Catch shuttle bus into town after nap. Encounter a kitty outside our door! Awww!
Bus into town is notably quicker, but I don't think this person is good at driving either. She reversed into a tree while parking.
Dinner at a baked potato shop. Yum.
Walk back to hostel. Aliens. Buffy. Sleep.
