    Blackpool Teacher/Student vs Pro/am

I don't know any ndca pro who's willing to risk it. And as far as I can see, the teacher - student category so far is not of the same caliber as ndca comps... most likely due to its newness.

    Blackpool Teacher/Student vs Pro/am

It's essentially a USA dance comp vs an ndca comp. I can't "choose" one or the other. My pro is ndca. So I do pro-am.

    Help me with Aidas!

I wear a size 8 street shoe and a 23 double wide square toe in Aida's. I like square toe much better. My toes go all the way to the end.

    WIDE feet!!! and ballroom shoes

I'm not sure how you define "new"- I've been wearing them for 2 years and the heel has always been in the same place. One of the reasons I love them is the heel placement

    WIDE feet!!! and ballroom shoes

Honestly, IRL you can barely tell they're different unless you put them next to each other. It took me 6months before I really noticed.

    WIDE feet!!! and ballroom shoes

My triple wide heel cup doesn't feel any different to me than the double wide. And btw - my astas. I dance about 10 hours a week in mine. My last pair lasted ALMOST A YEAR. Heel cup was in the best shape of all. The satin is slightly lighter than the dark tan of the karinas. But I don't...

    WIDE feet!!! and ballroom shoes

I use the astas for practice for the same reason- heel cup. And they Ilia told me to size down - before I was getting longer shoes because bigger size meant a little wider as well. He told me to go back down in size and get wider. They are DREAMY. Just glorious. I'm like princess and...

    WIDE feet!!! and ballroom shoes

I wear the karinas and Astas in triple wide now. I LOVE THEM! I had to go down a half size in length but now they are perfect with just the right amount of toe at the front edge!

How do you select your competitions ?

So it's not just me? @Lai Lai I'm guessing that since you don't already know some of this, you're probably bronze. Okay, so bronze standard. I'll try it another way. Good comps for standard: Embassy, emerald, San Francisco Open, Manhattan, Ohio Star Ball, Millenium, USDC. And no, you...

    Miles apart embrace

Suggest she try a different style of dancing? I mean, hand hold is not AT. It's not ballroom. Maybe Latin dancing? Cha cha, etc all use hand hold. Has anyone spoken to the teacher about this? I would think this is a conversation for the teacher to have with her.

How do you select your competitions ?

And we keep asking your age and level and part of the country because we can help you skip that because with that info, we can probably give you 5 or 6 comps to look at specifically. And you can get all data you need from one comp at once - you click on the results and look for the...

How do you select your competitions ?

Well, you can go to pretty much every comp website and get a sense for how big the fields were last year just by poking around. Plus, after a while you just sort of know certain ones. What age, style, and level are you? What part of the country? Are you able to travel much? We can probably...

How do you select your competitions ?

Age and level make a big difference actually in terms of choosing competitions with bigger heats. Some are better for bronze vs open, older ages usually have more. Etc. also, what part of the country are you in and how far will you travel for comps? There's more international on the coasts, etc.

Who has switched teachers? How did you know?

Without going into the long drama, I have been having issues with my teacher for a while. It started when we worked on an open showcase for Ohio, and has been off and on every time we do open work. Now, I've moved into open completely and we've been at each other's throats ever since. I know...
