The long-term solution is dual-role dancing?

Thinking back, I really only noticed it with a male follower who was really tall, maybe 6'3, a good 4-5 inches taller than me. I'm unlikely to meet any female followers that height, even with heels, but if I do I will make sure to bring the arm down a little, within reason. He was also a...

    Are milongas getting shorter?

Thanks, that makes sense. There is no need to save face and protect against rejection amongst friends. Also, I learned a new term in taxi dancer.

Has Buenos Aires lost its tango soul?

It's always difficult to have your expectations met when you build something up. That said, I doubt that the "true soul" of tango can be agreed upon, but where are some cities which, right now, are great places to tango? I'm asking with the spirit of planning some solo trips as a male leader who...

The long-term solution is dual-role dancing?

I notice that my elbow and shoulder get sore when i'm leading a tall follower. I'm about 5'10 / 1.79cm so quite a few followers approach my height and, in heels, some are as tall or even taller

Leaders. How was your Tango journey?

I also have a question about dancing at 'other' milongas. I have only started going to milongas with my school and am somewhat comfortable dancing with them, because we have the advantage of knowing each other a bit, and we all have the same teacher and style. At what stage does one know that ...

Leaders. How was your Tango journey?

Thank you for the detailed reply. I'm quite amazed by the thought and detail of the responses on this forum, haven't really seen it anywhere else on the modern internet. I love your point about even lowering and raising the ribcage, we do a drill like this in the warmup. Speaking of volcada...

How and Whys of Tango Musicality

Do we listen to tango music to learn the canon off by heart or to develop instincts for it? I guess both

Leaders. How was your Tango journey?

Thank you, this is helpful and, to be honest, in the last little while I have noticed the fog clearing and I'm beginning to feel more confident. I will take your advice about practicing with the bits which come easily to me but focusing more on the musicality.

Leaders. How was your Tango journey?

Thanks for your detailed response. Re coming out the other side of lessons, I'm prepared for the long haul. Our teacher does do privates but there's a long waiting list, so I think that will speed me up when the time comes. What you say about movement particles makes a lot of sense. I pay...

Leaders. How was your Tango journey?

Hi. I technically started dancing 2 years ago, but had to stop and start many times due to medical stuff. I think that if you add it all up, I have about 14/15 months of dancing in my body. I've learned quite a few moves but I struggle to connect them. I only went to a milonga once as there are...
