    Connection timed out

I've been on DF for over ten years, but only this year has the site become frequently unavailable. And according to Cloudflare, it's the server's fault, not my computer or the internet connection. What has changed this year? Less traffic, smaller hardware, more frequent attacks, more advertisement?

How does a dynamic dancer dance?

I rarely dance anymore, and if, I mostly dsnce with followers I've known and valued for a long time. Nevertheless, yesterday I asked a woman I didn't know to dance. Her spontaneous response after three bars: "Oh, you're a dynamic dancer!" But what does that actually mean? I never move...

    Dance ID please

I found this photo by Theodore Lux Feininger on the internet. Three couples dancing on the roof of the Bauhaus Art Academy in Dessau (Germany). The photo is dated around 1929. We definitely don't see a standard frame. What do you think they're dancing? It could be Balboa or Argentine tango.

    Not my day!

Who knows this situation: You show up at the milonga, and as you watch the ronda, you're overcome by a feeling of strangeness, distance, alienation, and almost disgust. That's what happened to me, right now. I didn't put on my dancing shoes, but turned on my heel and went back home.

When you are in relation with a tango dancer..

Does the perfect tango embrace exist? This is a spin-off.. I'm sure, the perfect embrace (dance floor) does exist, but it's a fleeting experience when it comes to a (life) partner. Since converting to tango, I've found all my life partners in the community. But somehow you can't have both a...

Mauricio Castro - dead or alive?

During my years of tango training, I tried out many teachers, many styles, and many didactical approaches. Among them was a franchise called "Tango Discovery". The owner, Mauricio Castro, studied with Gustavo Naveira, radicalized his system, and incorporated Naveira's approach into several books...

    Shiver

Argentine tango makes me shudder. What power, what dynamism, what a feeling. (Rubén is the only one who ever played a white bando with golden knops).

Is the Vals in 3/4 or 6/4 ?

The discussion about syncopation in the swing section reminded me of a blog post by TangoTherapist, whom I got to know when he was stationed in Germany some time ago. https://tango-therapist.blogspot.com/2011/11/music-workshop-thinking-in-six.html?

Rise and Fall of Argentine Tango in the USA

Inspired by DanceMentor's post, I did a search for AT in the US. Seems, the interest already was stationary before the pandemic.

    Pole Tango

In my opinion, the exaggerated lordosis in the lower back does not suit the tango.

How did you get into tango?

For me it was exactly this way. Tango pursued me until I gave in. At first the tango was still reserved, but then it became more and more intrusive. It all started when I was zapping through the tv channels late on one evening in the last century. I got stuck on “The Tango Lesson.” I found the...

    Cobbler, stick to your Tango!

I'm interested in the question of whether the tango represents the end of your dance journey for you. I know, technically we can dedicate ourselves to tango the whole life. There is always something to improve, to deepen, and perfect. But does that also satisfy a tango dancer? Maybe more variety...

"Ballroom AT" - Argentine Tango under the umbrella of Ballroom associations

I'll take PnP's aptly put account to explore this special side of tango. Firstly, the accredited ballroom studios are currently not just limiting themselves to the ten classic dances, but are increasingly offering everything that is successful in the wild, such as Argentine tango. The teachers...
