A friend of mine posted Fresedo/Fama piece Caridad at FB which was unkown to me. The style is canyengue. I browsed some discographies and was wondering how huge the work of this musician actually is

Fresedo is a man of many styles, simply because his work spans from 1928 to the 1960s. The piece you referenced is early Fresedo but I'd hesitate to call it a "canyengue" style of its own (even though it is excellent to dance on it "canyengue style"): the slowish rhythm, instrumentation and particular sound (partly due to the recency of introduction of electric recording in 1925) is quite typical for songs from around 1930.

1960s Fresedo is totally different and usually completely over the top (which is what makes it a lot of fun). Just listen to this "Vida Mia" with Dizzie Gillespie from 1956:

If you'd have to give the style of that early recording a name, then "Guardia Vieja" would be appropriate.
