DWTS Season 29

I haven't watched DWTS is ages. I watched tonight. At least the right couple went. Carol Baskin seemed like a wonderful woman, and I admire her for being game to go on the show. But she definitely didn't have much potential. It's too bad to see Pasha go.

Not gonna lie, I was hoping they would last longer only because I really like Pasha. My elementary school age son loves the Lion King so he was really horked off that they were voted off (he got a little carried away talking about how he was going to get back at Bruno for the 3). Note that otherwise he does not watch the show, but it doesn't take much to get him riled up sometimes.

And while I concur that Carole's performance was not great, I really felt like Pasha's choreography was thoughtful and effective (it was at her level, but still reflected the music).

Things that are driving me a bit crazy this season:
* Judges being rushed on their comments. If there's anyone I want to hear talk, it's the judges, especially Derek. (I feel like I'm getting free educational content from him).
* The hoppy jives.
* Way way too much posing/acting/non-syllabus content.
* Props and bad camera angles obscuring the dancing.

Johnny has a very strong personality and sense of self and sense of style. I doubt any coach would be able to fully break him out of his own style unless he really wants to take on whatever expressive style that they are suggesting for a particular dance. But he's still interesting to watch.

Agreed. I am totally biased towards him but that rumba had like zero hip action. His natural tendency of movement totally obliterated the normal character of the dance (where the two don't overlap).

how he was going to get back at Bruno for the 3)
I wanted to slap Bruno for the "brooklyn bridge" comment. Yeah... there was no bounce in her Samba. But really. (I sometimes think Bruno must have taken a snort of cocaine before these performances. But perhaps at this point he's just playing a character.)

Yep.
* Props and bad camera angles obscuring the dancing.
Like the balloons falling during the "up" dance?

Maybe the producers think the need to do something to make up for lack of audience. But not being able to watch the dancing is annoying. Falling balloons are not what I was hoping to watch.

I thought the same of Johny Weir. I really like him. But his strong-willed streak is both a strength and a weakness. He works hard and was dedicated.... but when he has an idea that he's going to do it his way, I'm pretty sure that's what he does.

I think this show is probably deliberately moving away from being a ballroom dance show to just a dance show.
I'm catching up on the Week 2 videos on YouTube and I'm scratching my head at the music so much.
That would also explain some of the cast choices.

Always sit back in the pocket behind the beat... I’ve told partners that way more than once. Validation!
Then there was that bump the woman from behind thing that happened in the cha cha.... Did that in West Coast once... It’s actually something a “pro” put in a routine? No longer on my embarrassing moments list.

Why don’t they turn down the applause/shout track? Tyra doesn’t have enough voice projection to be heard above that noise. The dancing - eh, meh. For me, the best part of tonights show was the commercial break showing scenes from the upcoming season premiere of The Good Doctor.

I know he isn’t that good, but I enjoy watching Johny Weir. But, what’s up with his costumes? I find them unflattering for his figure.

Hmmm, if 5:23 here.... DWTS is listed at it's usual time. WIll update later if it doesn;t come on. Are you looking at broadcast TV ( really... I still do...)

I was trying to watch via the satellite channels.
sigh... I’m in the Chicago area and it’s Da Bears playing...... so.......

I actually didn't hate the Chuckie's Bride AT dance. Is this codivd related in that I haven;t danced AT since February. or did it actually include significant AT movement?
Wasn't Derek the one pro whom (grammar police?) I thought had a pretty good grasp of AT like movement? and he seemed pretty pleased with what they did.
