Today upon waking, alter nearly three days without sleep after hearing the news, I finally realized that I’m not longer going to see Osvaldo dancing.
How can I overcome this situation, the most painful I have experienced so far? How could I help my mother to overcome this irreparable situation? That a son leaves this world before one does, it’s the hardest thing that can happen to a human.
In spite of the pain, I feel that the only possible way to keep his memory alive is through the preservation of his creation. Make a film about his life, ask to my mother to be the protagonist of the film, ask her to dance in the movie and to tell the public about him, to let everybody know his story, the most important moments of his life, that he lived as an artist.
My mother fought all his life for helping us to find our way. She sacrificed to give us a home and achieve that her children were “somebody” in this life. And he succeeded. Our destiny is fulfilled as artists through my mother.
Therefore, in order that the work of Osvaldo – this fundamental artist for the tango – does not get lost in the oblivion, besides crying for him, we can continue with his work, spreading it.
This film will be his work. He will guide us in the way. And he will be our guardian angel to do it. Wherever he is, surely he wants to be remembered dancing.
Yesterday in the cemetery, when I received the condolences and listened to the offers of help from whom came to bid farewell Osvaldo and during this so extremely strong applause initiated by one of the people, which spread during endless minutes, I said to myself: this can not be the last farewell. The artist can not die.
I want to call all those people who shared with Osvaldo his dedication, his passion for this dance, to join me in making a documentary film that honors his art.
My experience tells me that the accomplishment of the production is expensive, takes time, meetings, recording sessions, and now I do not have the resources to do it without help.
The support can be demonstrated anyway: contributions of documentation, photos, file material, videos, and all that could facilitate the creation of this project, including the simple diffusion of the idea.
I hope from the authorities of the City and the Nation, from management agencies and representation of musical rights the sponsorship for this initiative. I hope the same from the usual sponsors of shows and private companies that support our national culture.
