Tango in the Boston area

I will be going to Boston Sep 16-20. I see on a regional calender that there are several milongas or practicas that weekend. Does anyone have any experience of the different groups and milongas in the Boston area such as the La Milonga?

My partner will not be interested in anything that is mostly alternative/nuevo/neo etc. Other than that, any feedback is appreciated as we will most likely only be able to get to one event, mostly likely on either Friday or Saturday night, although Thursday might work out as well..

Typically, the Boston milongas play somewhere between a little alternative music, to none at all, so your friend should have nothing to worry about. (Providence, Hartford, and Northampton play a fair amount of alternative).

La Milonga (on Saturday night in Somerville) is usually well attended. They advertise it as being a "dressy" milonga, and while some people do get dressed up for it, not everyone does. Unfortunately (for me), I'll be out in Western Mass on that Saturday night, but possibly I'll run into you on one of the other nights. Although I rarely go out on work nights, I might make an exception (if my wife let's me). If you get really lucky, you might even run into Bafanso from this forum (he's a much better dancer than me).
