Vancouver Tango Festival

I'm considering attending this festival. I'm curious if someone has feedback on the festival itself.

• What's the predominant style danced in the milongas of this festival? Is it mostly traditional tango de salon, is it mostly nuevo, or is it a mix?
• I would love to hear feedback on the instructors [workshop schedule link]. I'm likely to take intermediate or beginner classes.
  • In Tango festivals, are students more likely to rotate during workshops, or is it more likely that they'll stick with partners they came with? How good are instructors are when it comes to facilitating partner-rotation?

I've never been to this festival, so I don't know what the rules are there. However, a common thing at festivals, is that partner rotation is "encouraged" for all classes except the advanced (some couples will not want to rotate, though). In the advanced classes, a lot of festivals require you to register with a partner (with no rotation), so if you really aren't advanced enough, it doesn't effect the other couples.

If you read the teacher bios and viewed the videos, you should have a good idea of what to expect at the Vancouver festival. If nuevo or salon exhibition tango is your thing, your money will be well spent. This isn't their first festival, so write the organizer and ask if there is rotation of partners in classes.

One thing is certain -- you won't remember a thing from class when the weekend is over. It's too much for anyone to digest in four days, especially without a regular partner.
