For me, it's always been the music that makes me move and tells me in what style. As I've said on my figure skating forum, "music that picks me up and carries me across the ice".
My parents were ballroom competitors in the UK. When my mother was pregnant with me, I was a much smaller baby than my older brothers had been and she didn't gain much weight. She and my father would put on dance records and practise at home, and they swore I would kick in time to the music; even my father could feel it in close holds. They said I preferred the waltz
. I guess I've just never outgrown that.
