The AVG toolbar was an add-on to the internet browser. I'm not sure exactly how it was supposed to work (And no, I don't feel nit-picked.
) but it seemed to have embedded itself into the browser, so that a bunch of things were different, For example, internet searches tended to be redirected through an AVG site rather than directly through google. Quite a pain. But I suppose it's better than the internet olden days (10 years ago lol) when toolbars from some of the more unscrupulous companies would actual change your bios.
And yes, AVG is its own company. IIRC, the first time I heard of it was maybe seven or eight years ago, when I used their free anti-virus software. It's been years, so I don't know if they support anti-virus software anymore. That software used to be pretty good, though. And it was free.
