Hey Everybody!!! Forum Software Upgrade in the Works

Honestly, not being able to modify my sig line is a much, much lower priority, for me, than some other issues on the table. I added my vote because I don't want the people who are reporting a problem to feel like they are hanging out there alone.

When I was going through the issue with a disappearing logout button, I though I was crazy and kept trying to fix/trouble-shoot it myself. I'm still not quite sure I wasn't hallucinating. *grin*

Both are important to me, and both are way ahead of signature lines on my priority list. Which is not to say that it's unimportant to regain functionality that we had with the previous software.Everybody's concerns need to be addressed. But, to me, if I can't reliably post one thing (rather than zero, two or three things) most of the time, then it doesn't really matter what my sig line says. Nobody's going to be reading it, anyway. *shrug*

Also, when we post duplicate posts due to server errors there is no way of deleting the duplicate postings. On salsaforums there is a delete along with an edit option. This would help eliminate the multiple postings when they do occur. I believe it can be set up so that if someone posts after you there is no way to delete, but if no one has, meaning thread integrity is not in question, you can.

I don't know how to do screenshots, but I'd be glad to, if someone can tell me how. I think that will help us get to the bottom of the signature line issue much more quickly.

I also want to chime in with a big thank you. After a month and a half of hard work** on this transition, it can't be easy for the admin and mod staff to keep hearing complaints. I just want y'all to know that I, for one, mean anything said in a constructive way and I will do what I can (however little or much that may be) to help.

You are appreciated.

**That we know of. I'm guessing there was even more behind the scenes stuff that we didn't see.

Jananananana, in the top right corner of the page you should see your username wit a drop down menu. Item #2 (on the left) is "Signature". Hope that helps!

SD, on which page is this drop-down menu visible? I don't see my username with a drop-down menu on the upper right corner of any page...but I will be happy to take a screenshot of it if I can locate it.

Sam, the place where the drop-down is hidden is circled in red:

Larinda, here's the drop-down as it appears for me:

Ah yes, I remember that. It almost never loads for me anymore...it just shows "Searching....." The username, alerts, inbox and logout links display rarely for me these days. It's like the pages take longer to load those items.

can someone take screen shots so we can actually see what you are seeing!

Maybe you've already thought of / done this, but admins and mods could create a fake plain-old-user account for testing purposes, in order to explore that view of DF first-hand. Obvious perhaps, but I mention it just in case it's one of those things that simply didn't come to mind.

I am wondering if browser choice is making a difference with experiences with DF for people. I am using Firefox and haven't had a number of problems that some are reporting above (the login/involuntary logout thing, buttons not appearing, etc). Of course I don't post a lot. But folks that are frustrated might want to consider trying a different browser and seeing if it is any better. Probably not a long term solution, but just a thought from the sidelines.
