No, I am competing for myself. Social dance doesn’t allow the same level of dancing, in terms of movement and technique. And performances aren’t really a thing over here. A competition, for me, is a goal to work towards and nothing more.

The one true love is ballroom, unfortunately. There's definitely a swing scene, but ballroom is where my soul rests and recharges, and I'll find my own way to blend my unique identity with the expectations and roles of very traditional ballroom!

Yup...he's well within his rights to dislike the amount of time I spend at dance, just as I have similar issues with gaming. And if that's the case, that's okay. I wouldn't really want to be spending any less time at dance to achieve the goals I've set myself.
