I have my doubts about your interpretation since most of the guys who thumbed up the post were those who rolled their eyes on my questions. I think they are just annoyed since I am pretty much the only one asking questions every time. Oh yes they don't. They often tell us, they are not dance...

My therapy is swimming actually. It is the only thing I can turn off my head at least a little by just staring at the tiles and count them. Unless of course I do drills to learn freestyle, but even then it is easier to turn off my head than in learning to dance. But maybe you are right about...

Thanks for the suggestions. I looked up Elazar Fayzulaev, but he teaches in Freiberg am Neckar and not the Freiberg I live in. Also, 1000€ just on dancing is out of my budget anyway. Dresden would only work on weekends and to be honest, after last Monday I am actually thinking about quitting. I...

I guess it depends what you count. If I just count the individual steps of a triple step, 123 makes perfect sense. But since I try to count the music 1 & 2 makes more sense. Usually for 8-count moves I count 1,2,3&4,5,6,7&8 and for 6-count moves it is 1,2,3&4,5&6.

Germany, Saxony to be more precise. I live in a city called Freiberg which is right in the middle of Dresden and Chemnitz. Chemnitz is also the city I go to dance or better learn to dance Lindy with a group of enthusiasts. It is not a real dance school. Just a couple of people who love the dance...

The "drill" we did was 8-count basic in closed, than rock right, I turn on the leads signal to my left in front of him/her via a triple step and make another full turn or more on the second triple step. Except of course, that I couldnt do it. A lead in Monday told me that shoulder back and turn...

    stationary turns

Sure, but I would probably proceed with learning to follow, since I started with learning to follow last year in April. Also, due to more experience and since it is easier I would probably stick with following then. No chance to find one in the city I live in.

    Finding and keeping frame

OK, that might be true. My teachers call it bouncing and they do it during a dance too. My triple steps being wrong, might be true too. Though none of my teachers/instructors ever told me I am doing them wrong. Also, half of what you wrote there, I dont understand. I am what you may call...

Yeah, I know I am thinking too much, that is what I hear all the time. However, my brain works that way and I cannot turn it off like you suggest. Also, thinking about what you described and already have a knot in my head. Before we started with the tuck turns we did an inside turn. Meaning, I...

Hey all, not sure if this is the right spot to post it. If the admins disagree feel free to delete or move the thread. In my lindy community we had a workshop on the weekend. Despite my teachers telling me I should be fine, it was really not my place to be there. I was really bad at...

    Finding and keeping frame

I am a beginner too and both bounce and groove walk are hard for me to keep going. I bounce at the start of the song to synchronize my rhythm with the follow. But as soon as I am in the song for a couple of seconds, I drop it. It is just to hard for me right now to bounce while exectuing dance...

    Finding and keeping frame

I think that is what I am supposed to do, lead with my body and not my arms. However, I am not doing it. My torso often is in front of my feet instead of centered above them. It makes sense to keep my feet under my body and dance by moving my entire body while keeping a solid frame. I just...

    Finding and keeping frame

I get the analogy of a mechanical oscillator believe me. Problem is without frame (or is it psoture) there is no spring. My arms are still like overcooked spaghetti so there rarely is tension or stretch and I hear that all the time when I follow. I still need to pay too much attention to...

    Finding and keeping frame

The frustration is there for sure, but has not a lot to do with me learning to lead and follow at the same time. It is more my personality and the fact, that I am not very patient with myself when it comes to learning new stuff. Especially when I see others do it so much faster than me. I am...

    Finding and keeping frame

Hey there, thanks for your reply and sorry for my late answer. Actually still keeping in mind the shopping cart analogy and trying to use it in my social dancing. However, I really find it hard to be consistent. When I social dance I am so much in my head about what steps to do and "signals to...

    Finding and keeping frame

That is a really great analogy, thank you. Definitely trying that in the beginner class as a lead. Obviously not going to tell the follows I think about them as shopping carts from now on. Not sure though how to translate this to me being a follow. Shopping carts rarely move me around through...

    Finding and keeping frame

A little off topic, can someone be too stupid to lead? For context, I take a lead beginner class right now and have the steps fine when I do them solo, but as soon as I dance/practice with a follow everything is a disaster. After 3 or 4 weeks of trying the send out/in I still cannot so it. Not...

    Finding and keeping frame

I guess I get it then. And it is about frame too I think. Keeping your feet under the torso is a Part of frame for me. Maybe I have that wrong, but I Like to see it that way.

    Finding and keeping frame

I rarely use shopping carts, but if I use them, I can push them either empty or filled with groceries. The cart won't be full though. I live alone and usually don't need and buy a lot of stuff. Also, I cannot say if I push them the same way other people do, because I never observe others pushing...

    Finding and keeping frame

Ok, so overcoming it would mean to have good frame and do small steps. Great, if you find some meds that help me keep frame and do small steps please give me the name and I ask my doctor for a prescription. Because frame and small steps are my arch nemesis it seems. Even after half a year of...
