TV Shows you are watching now

This Is Us. Mind-blowingly good. I'm counting the days until the second season starts.

    Happy and/or Random Thoughts #3

Interesting....as my herbs were less than spectacular this year. Hmmm....

    Happy and/or Random Thoughts #3

My first canning endeavor (this season) has been a success. It's late in the season, in the Pacific Northwest, so I had many green tomatoes to harvest. I made a batch of Salsa Verde (with green tomatoes, onions, garlic, red and jalapeno peppers, fresh corn, and cilantro). What can I...

    Happy and/or Random Thoughts #3

My first year garden has been generous, to say the least. I have so much canning to do.....I doubt I have enough jars and lids! Not complaining, mind you. :)

    food journal

Trying to clean up my diet after a week at home, and cooking for family. Mixed green salad and thin sliced baby yellow zucchini from my garden, with green onions and homemade Thai peanut salad dressing. Small serving of fingerling potatoes from the garden. Organic nectarine slices. I've...

What are you excited about in your dancing right now?

No excitement here. I'm most likely backing out of my next comp. I'll still go to support a dance friend, and get out of town for a couple of days, but that's it. I'm just not ready, and don't feel able to do my best. The knees only bother me when I dance, but it's enough to make me pause...

Uncontested heats - how to be sure there will be competition at the competition

Been there. I loathe uncontested heats. As far as I'm concerned, it's a waste of money.

    pre-competition disorder

*sigh* I've got a comp coming up in a little over three weeks, and I have no feelings about it what-so-ever. That's scary. The only thing I'm excited about is that I took an entire week off work to go, and I'm supporting a good dance friend along the way. After this comp, I'm taking the rest...

    Dancing with a Torn Meniscus

I've had sciatica. (Years before I discovered acupuncture.) It was a six week nightmare. I think there is only so much ANY medical genre can do for a major pinched nerve, unfortunately. Time is the 'doctor' in this case.

I wouldn't trade my oral-B electric toothbrush for anything. It's one of the older models, so it just spins in one direction, but when this one wears out, I'll definitely upgrade to the oscillating brush. The difference between that and a manual brush is like night and day. And, on the...

    Dancing with a Torn Meniscus

Acupuncture. I have arthritis in both knees, and the treatment I got a few years ago for other knee issues cleared up my arthritis symptoms completely.

    Life After Dance...

I just saw this today. I have no idea of the actual struggles of Parkinson's, but I found this to be inspirational. My best to you.

    Dancing with a Torn Meniscus

I've found that acupuncture is extremely effective for pain relief and speeding up healing. I'd highly recommend it. However, not all insurance will cover this treatment, and it can be expensive. I upgraded mine to cover this, but still can only receive 24 treatments a year. Acupuncture...

    Dancing with a Torn Meniscus

Well, I'm not sure when the actual injury occurred, but what I am assuming was during the injury, I was able to dance (Standard) but just had massive swelling and very minor discomfort. After.....eh.....no reduction of the pain, and now have occasional "joint" pain, as opposed to just soft...

    Dancing with a Torn Meniscus

My knee (and the whole leg, actually) had massive swelling. There wasn't a lot of pain, but dang...my left leg was twice the size of my right. Come to find out, I had significant tears to my meniscus, confirmed by an MRI. I saw a surgeon about it, and of course, he recommended he go in and...

Which Super Power would you choose?

Is the ability to talk to animals considered a super power? 'Cause that's what I would choose. :)

Holland America seems to be deleting Ballroom Dancing

I took a USA Dance cruise on HAL a few years ago. The only drinks included were coffee, tea, juice and water. The dance floors were sticky, and very small. The lessons provided were good, but the social dancing was MEH. That's all I'll say about that. However, I did have a great time (after...

    Least Favorite Things

when slugs munch on my hydrangea plant, fox news, okra, black eyelash glue, people who perpetually feel entitled, big city traffic, milk, cold calls from aggressive salespeople or charities, sticky dance floors, slippery roads, sore knees, running out of printer ink at home when I'm on a...

how are your lessons going? thread II

After a 10 min warm-up with my knees, Slow Waltz and Quickstep were solid! We covered lots of floor, and everything felt smooth and easy. We also solidified the forth wall in both dances. Leaving for a comp tomorrow. Can't wait!

how are your lessons going? thread II

DP made several comments about my level (being at well beyond intermediate bronze) during the lesson, but my poor left knee and right foot simply can't do what I want them to do. Slow Waltz and Quickstep are really coming along, after I'm warmed up, but VW.....not so much. *sigh* I'm having...
