Ina and Troels Ended Their Partnership

I can only relay what the Pro told me, but based on that, the primary reason for their retirement is Troel's injury. Whatever the reason may be, they will be very much missed! Amazing dancers and a total class act, both of them.

Ina and Troels Ended Their Partnership

I've heard it from a Pro that Ina and Troels partnership has ended. Apparently, Troel's injury isn't healing as well as they expected it. Since they haven't announced their retirement, I assume Ina will keep on dancing with someone, but that is only an assumption on my part.

How Are Your Lessons Going? Thread 3

I would trade my leg flexibility for spinal flexibility in a heartbeat. All in all, far more useful both in dancing and life.

Amazing lesson with Pro today. It was the FIRST day of my Open journey and as such, very special. We agreed that I would not do any comps until September, when I would debut in Open at USDC. We also agreed that we would continue working on technique and connection, designing a choreography that...

    First Comp in Closed Gold

It has been a year that I posted anything here, simply because I spent most of 2024 off the dance floor. My younger sister's health in Hungary deteriorated to the extent that she went straight from the hospital to the hospice, dying not only of advanced Multiple Schlerosis but also cancer...

    2024 Competition Opportunities

Same here. I always book my hotel room months in advance. Pretty much right after the organizers make them available. I bailed out various Pros in the last who didn't book ahead of time and needed a room and I ended up not going.

This. People take to failure, or even the possibility of failure (the pressure to do well) differently. And it is vital for coaches to learn how a particular athlete responds to pressure. Some people actually thrive on it (become more focused and energized, or they get angry when they fail and...

You dance for fun, PnP. Do what makes you happy. If that means you only dance during lessons for months, for years, forever, so what? You will know when you want to do a comp or showcase, I promise you. That burning desire cannot be missed. And until then, don't waste your time and money and...

Should male standard dancers avoid being muscular?

That's very true. Strong legs/glutes/ankles and core, with some shoulders and back, are useful for a dancer, but arms, no. Older women do train their triceps for aesthetics, if not strength; glutes and triceps are the first to deteriorate with age.

Should male standard dancers avoid being muscular?

Contrary to what many people think, it's not that easy to develop big muscles. it's not like you go to the gym, begin to lift some weights, and bam! You look like Arnold. Dancers train a lot, some even go to the gym, but their focus isn't on building big muscles. Therefore, you don't see many...

You Know you are Addicted to Dancing when...

They are the most comfortable shoes, period. That's because the sole is both thick and plush, yet very flexible (unlike Ray Rose, for example, which is flexible but isn't so padded). And the straps hold up better than any other brand I tried; they don't stretch as much around the foot. The...

Should male standard dancers avoid being muscular?

Strength training done properly increases mobility just as well, if not better, than stretching. Because most people associate strength training with the specific kind of weightlifting they see in gyms, they do not understand that. Having said that, for a young dancer especially, strength...

Should male standard dancers avoid being muscular?

That just tells me he or she knew very little about strength training. Sure, if you do a bunch of slow and stationary lifts with limited range of motion but very heavy weights then call it a day, you will get stiff. But the right kind of strength training is actually the best tool you have to...

Should male standard dancers avoid being muscular?

I always preferred Gene Kelly to Fred Astaire, and Gene was a pretty muscular guy :). And back when I was a teenager, the Hungarian Standard champion looked like a body builder, not Arnold either but a stocky one at that, with short torso and limbs. But he moved very light, very smooth. Muscles...

Should male standard dancers avoid being muscular?

No one should avoid being muscular. Muscles are good for you. For your bones, your metabolism, your ability to utilize glucose, not to mention movement, especially over a certain age. And on male anything? Female anything, too? They look hot!
