I don't necessarily have an "addictive personality", but seeing my 'dealer' is also my 'experienced' S.O. (danced AT 20 years before me) has 'pushed' the 'drug' (AT) on me, let's just say I look forward to the 'fix' every weekend, which could be interpreted as being 'addicted' (hooked). We also 'get high' (practice) together quite a bit on the wooden flooring in the house.
Now after <3 years, I have an extensive collection of nice clothes (especially tango-only shirts), a couple vests, and 3 pairs of shoes (1-shiny black patent leather, 1-practice, 1-back-up), I guess I am in the 'tango opium den' and have an 'addiction' to it and look forward to my 'fix' (regularly). I also have a special bag (military pilot helmet bag) that I carry the shoes, water bottle, extra t-shirt and socks, gum/mints, some nuts (pistachios in case she gets hungry), and a couple of Covid test kits. Plus I always have a spare shirt (or two) hanging in my vehicle in the parking lot at a milonga or practalonga.
There have been many times I've gone out shopping with my S.O. to her favorite (discount) department stores here in the U.S. (Marshall's, Ross, TJ Maxx, etc.), and even at one of the high-end second-hand stores in an exclusive part of town she frequents where women oftentimes donate un-used, or slightly used (expensive) clothing, I'll purchase dresses for her that she wears to tango (even though she says; "I don't need any more dresses, I have enough..."). In a couple cases, she had them altered a little (hem line, or slit-added usually) so they look better for tango. When she wears any of them, she always gets compliments, even with those second-hand ones.
Plus, when I have some down-time, I'll watch YouTube videos, and practice on my own to refine the things we're learning (group classes and private lessons 1-2x / week) so I stay on top of my game.
