Watching the 2005 IDST Latin World Championships on PBS ... wow! :raisebro:

Got to see the semi-finals already and now they are on to showing the finals. :D

The 2005 International Standard World Dancesport Championships are next on the same channel!

(DP, too bad you can't change the title of this thread. ;) )

Yes, unfortunately not a good choice. :(

These are obviously last year's results for the 2005 IDST Latin World Championships, but hey, what the heck ...

1st Cocchi & Wilkinson (she had a great white dress)

2nd Kongsdal & Franova

3rd Katsevman & Manusova (what a dynamic pair with a super rumba)

4th Vescova & Torikgyorgy

5th Stokkebroe & Stokkebroe

6th Felippo & Felippo

I just saw this on Wednesday- what amazing events!!!!! I loved how the program was set up (showing almost everything) w/the semi, interviews, finals, solos, awards, honors dance, great commentary by Bryan Watson and Karen Hardy for latin and I think Michael Barr and someone else for standard. Eugene, Maria, Val, and Valeriya looked great representing America. Great filming and fantastic dancing. I can only dream about dancing at world's one day! :D I really hope PBS plans on showing these programs more often and more regularly. I don't know if you've seen the standard yet, but there was some definite surprises- Gioia's distorted posture was really bothering me, but the German couples really shone (the event was in Germany after all!). yay for PBS!

The results of the 2005 ISTD Standard World Championships:

1st Soale and Cerasoli (defended their 2004 championship)

2nd Karabey and Karabey (a bit of a surprise, and two magnificent dresses in semi and finals, purple and then white)

3rd Bizokas and Daiute (same place as last year)

4th Pitton and Bosco (a yowza green dress)

5th Kohler and Ferruggina

6th Basyuk and Gimaev

Yes, so much power house dancing in the last two hours! Commentary seemed solid and informative, despite the speed at which everything went by.

Sheesh! A third hour coming up!

It looks like 2005 ISTD International 10 Dance Championships!

Might not be able to stay up, getting sleepy, and the last two hours were quite a bit to watch ... what a surprise to find all this on a PBS channel tonight.

Not liking the coverage of this 10 Dance comp. :(

They just showed V. Waltz and basically focused on one couple.

The previous coverage of the other two 2005 Championships was much better.

Results for 2005 ISTD 10 Dance:

1st Cigoj and Novozilova (2004 defending champions)

2nd Kies and Turon

3rd Slide and Firstova

4th Cannizzaro and Novozilova (sister of champion)

5th Dvarak and Silhanova

6th Gschaider and Stokel

I think they got their "15 minutes" because the woman in the partnership is from Austria where the comp was held. And, it WAS a Viennese Waltz afterall so I guess it is only fair.

I only discovered this show at 9:56 so I missed the first 2 hours.

Interesting bit of sibling rivalry with 2 sisters in the final.

Was the blonde sister wearing a funky kind of latin shoe? It almost looked like a smooth dance shoe b/c the toe was partially covered. I kept trying to catch a glimpse of it but couldn't see very clearly.

I'm guessing this was only shown in the MA/NH area since it's just us locals chiming in.......

Crap! Is there any way to figure out on Dish what channel it'd be? Dumb this down- I'm hovering dangerously near the Mason-Dixon line here!
