2006 USA DanceSport Nationals

One of the USABDA Eligibility Rules says that both partners have to have "qualified visas". What kind of visa would be considered "qualified" ? And how do you check those?

The bottom line is that someone who is a non-US Citizen needs to have documentation that merely allows them to travel out of and back in to the United States.

So, for example, a single-entry visa is not acceptable. Neither is an expired or "overstayed" multiple-entry visa. Also, permission to live and work in the US is not necesssarily sufficent. USA Dance has been accepting current multiple-entry O1, H1B, F1, and B1/B2 visas, among others. And of course we accept documents of permanent alien residency, such as the "green card."

People's visas must be in order before dancing at Nationals. For example, having merely filed for an extention of an overstayed visa would not be acceptable -- the approval of the extended stay would also have to be in hand.

You can contact me through the private messaging system here or at registrar@usabda-norcal.org with specific questions.

did the final deadline pass, or was it only a deadline with 50$ discount.. Just wondering if this is it in terms of entries

Some late entries have been trickling in, they have until July 28th. Also, I've only inputted about 1/3rd of the paper entries that we received.

We're up to 359 couples as of now (including the paper entries)....

This competition is going to be very large. I am attempting to make competitor check-in as fast and easy as possible, so PLEASE if I email or call you (the generic you, not just Katarzyna) about any outstanding issues, take care of them before you come to San Jose! I greatly appreciate everyone's cooperation on this.

Will the heat lists be available on-line at some point? As far as I can remember last year you were able to browse current registration on this O2CM system.

They are there, but they are not 100% correct because I have changes and scratches to process that haven't been put online yet.

I noticed adult novice standard is up to more than 50 couples. That's a full 1/8th of final round, i.e. 4 rounds!! It's going to be hard to fit all that into the schedule.

Well, our ace scheduler is tackling the problem. There is a small chance that we might actually have to start some of the syllabus at 8:00am, but that is NOT DECIDED yet and I will be personally letting everyone affected by this know IF it comes to pass.

Anyway, fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night! :)

Wow! 50 in the Standard adult.. This is so exciting. Do you anticipate general admission tickets to sell out? Have a friend in the San Jose area and need to advise.
Thanks.
