A poem with good advice for dancers

I liked the poem. Thanks for sharing. I actually find it applicable for all dancing, and life as well.

It does not rhyme. Is it a poem really, or did the poster just use"center alignment"?

be on good terms with all persons.
Honestly I usually know only 5% of the people in a milonga, so it's more indifferent terms.

Dance your tango quietly and clearly;
Gustavo said that that deception was fundamental in the lead-follow game. So, I will just ignore this verse.

and watch for others
Easy for me, as I dance in open style. (Hint, hint).

Avoid showy and aggressive dancers
When it comes to being aggresive at the DJ and complaining that the music is not entirely 40's, milonguero dancers are the more showy.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,

Or safely conclude that you're the only argentine there, and start to put your flyers on each table.

Enjoy your Piazzolla as well as your Canaro.
As well but much more.

Keep interested in your own steps, however humble;
Don't watch your steps. You know where your feet are. (Quoting 90% of my teachers).

they are a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Less and less of a possession though, as time goes by.

Exercise caution in crowded milongas,
That's what I do, I go to the milongas and once there I exercise my caution.

Especially do not feign fantasia
I am always disappointed when comes the fantasia moment in a given song (usually just before the end) and people keep dancing the same as during the adagio part.

Neither be cynical about nuevo,
You will lose.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
Damn. A DiSarli tanda just starting.

You are a child of the universe
Might try to say that to my dad.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
there are still nice dances to be had.

This is were not being a native english speaker hurts. Can't tell if this "with" means "thanks to" or "despite".

Desiderata was in fact written around 1920 (although some say as early as 1906), by lawyer Max Ehrmann (1872-1945) based in Terre Haute, Indiana. This is a plagiarised version, applied to tango, written by a robot apparently!!!

"despite", matey...;)

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
