Im another who is going to say Go for it!

I had some of my earlier lessons with a former multiple Australian champion who is now one of the top coaches and adjudicators in the country.
Although I knew very little then I can look back on what he was saying and realise just how much he taught me atthe most basic level.
He was so excited and enthusiatic about teaching me that I never once felt uncomfortable.

I agree with Sunderi too.. the worst they could do is say no!

You don't? I'd happily spend several hours with Hazel doing nothing more than the 1-2-3 or a natural turn.

I'd be happy spending several hours with Hazel working on the high school hang.

Go for it. The high level coaches are almost always worth the $$. The only problem that might arise is if the high level coach contradicts your usual instructor, in which case you'll just need to finesse a bit.

Or rethink who you regularly study with...

That said, some actively competing guests may be better at winning competitions than at teaching ultimately sound technique, while some local coaches may be right on technically despire modest competition histories. So it's important not to jump in new directions without seriously *thinking* about which approach you want to take and why.

Until you get into the realm of multiple Blackpool titles, I think the logic of the supporting arguments for an idea is probably a more reliable guide than the fame of the person presenting it.

Sometimes the big arguments of technical style ultimately can boil down to both sides agreeing that if you start with this, you end up with that. When that happens, it does get back to pure preference and reputation - is the starting assumption appropriate? Is the ensuing result desireable?
