Not you, as well!! - I thought Alesha was spot on - there was way too much posing instead of dancing, like some kind of cheesey erotic tableau... Vincent, for god's sake, roll yer tongue in, lad, we know you fancy her but she's taken!! :rolleyes:
 
.. more waffling about SCD....

.. and that only fuels my desire to see the couple get judged as a couple - ie the pro gets judged too. In comps, I believe you get judged on presentation too (ie choice of music, choreo, costume)... so why not do that on SCD?? E.g. It makes it difficult for the non-pro, surely, when the pro picks a really mismatched tune as in James Jordan picking Candi Staton's 'You Got the Love' to do a Paso Doble to. I mean was that arrogance on his part or what was it? :confused: (at least Len did mention it). And we've had a moan on here - but I reckon salsa dancers have got as much (if not more) to moan about re representation of salsa on SCD. Not a one of them had a clue except Ola and Brian. Natalie Lowe picked a disco tune and did disco steps as did Katya Virshirlas and probably a few others... I really don't want to check back and put myself through it again.:rolleyes: Anton picked a salsa tune but is way too stiff to give a feel for the dance. Brian was quite good, actually, though he can't really get down with his bad self, can he? ;) (Go Chris!)

Nah, Ola is the best by far. And Brendan.

It's a shame, though, that they won't invite any real tango dancers on - because they'd make V & F look like second-raters and they've been bulled up and have manipulated the truth re their AT competition credentials from the get-go. Although I do rather like Jaclyn Spencer and Chris Marques,on the salsa side, they are a little Ballroomy... but then there aren't really many good salsa performers out there. I like Luda and Oliver but it's just fast-fast-fast NY stuff.

Don't know what was going on re the juding of Rachel's Rhumba. Alesha knew where Vincent was coming from - ie, he was entranced with what a cute couple they made and did a vanity posing choreo... but that was something V should be judged on.. not Rachel.

So, has anyone seen Vince Cable? Given the fact he's 'added it to his repertoire' makes me think he doesn't know what a long, hard labour of love AT is - he makes it sound like a mere bagatell.. either that or he's the Pablo Veron of British Politics, in which case - let me at 'im!!!

..... sorry, I'm going on again hehehe! Being 'iced in' is making work for idle hands! I need fresh air!

I going to write to the Beeb and nominate you as a judge; you obviously know what you're talking about; and I agree about Flavia and Vincent; no feel for tango; no smoothness, connection let alone a bit of smoulder

I guess it's just that the judges were flinging around 10s like confetti.

Mind you, I thought Austin was massively undermarked also.

Aw, shucks, thanks! Hehe. It struck me that this last routine they did they didn't seem as 'into it' as they normally do.

Strictly judges being inconsistent - now there's a thought ;)

Erin's choice of music wasn't brilliant - it kind of worked when the big guitar bits came but apart from that..... bit odd
 
The "London Tango" movie is being shown on Film 24 throughout January (it's already been on in December). This is a 60min TV cutdown, which still features Ian, Andrew, Hanna and co.

If you have SKY, it's on Film 24 on the 7th of Jan at 20.10

Looking at the trailer, I've no idea why it's called "London Tango", as there's no Tango being danced... possibly I'm being thick.
 
Know what you mean. I did see one flash of David and Kim, so I dont know what to think..

Whatever happened to that reality tv show they were going to make a year or two ago - if I recall, a tango teacher (who's name was a secret but a few of us knew who it was.. don't even know why it was a secret, now, but I'll not put the name in any case)... was going to train up a group of random people to do a tango routine..... ????
 
dunno - but on another note I have just seen an ad for "So you think you can dance?" - with Arlene as one of the Judges. Cant keep a good woman down ..

I hear it's set in London, and it's ballroom-focussed.

According to "The Tango and how to dance it" by Gladys Beattie Crozier, 1913, tango tea dances at the Waldorf Hotel charged 5 shillings. The recently introduced old age pension was 5/- a week, and about that time a clerk at Lloyds Bank would have been paid £25 per year.
