Idilio by Willie Colon
You know Boriken, this song was the main reason I bought the Salsa Fresca CD -- Idilio doesn't get played around here, and I wanted to listen to it because you said you loved it.

Having said that, my favourite from the CD has turned out to be No Me Acostumbro by Rey Luiz.

Hi everyone! I´ve been away. :( Wow, only 100 000 posts to catch up on... Missed all my DF friends a lot! It´s great to be back! :) :) :)

Boriken, I´m listening to Idilio as I´m writing this post. It´s the Willie Colon & Andy Montanez version. I love this song!! I have the mp3 for almost 2 years now. I´ve never danced to it though. The DJ´s here don´t play it too often. :(

Regarding "No me acostombro" by Rey Ruiz, this song holds a special place in my heart. It´s one of the few songs I´ve reached nervana with.

Great to have you back MapleLeaf!!!!! :D :D

BTW, I didn't know willie had a version with Andy Montañez, WOW... I knew of the original with Cuco Peña, but that was it... wepaaaaa

Boriken and Peach, thanks for the great wellcome!!!!!! It´s nice to be back amongst friends! :D :D

Peach have you learnt LA style yet? When is our next dance going to be? I prefer a slow salsa if that´s OK with you.

Boriken, I think Idilio is one of those "TMYHITMYLI" songs. Translated to English means, "The more you hear it, the more you like it". It´s like fine wine...

OK then!! "No Me Acostumbro" to start. Then maybe "Sey" from Africando. We´ll probably have to bribe the DJ though...

I thought you only knew Casino... I can only dance LA... I want to learn Casino also. There should be a class opening up shortly at my studio. :D :D ON2 is also on my salsa calender, the problem is there is hardly anyone here in Lisbon who knows how to dance ON2...

I have the same problem MLS, but I'm determined to persevere. Peach and MLS are you talking of Ediie Tores on2, where you go back left on beat 1, back right on beat 2, left in place 3-4 etc, or power on2 where you start by breaking forward on 2 with left, in place left on 3, back 4-5? Just curious?

Thanks for welcoming me guys. It's always great to see people showing support for Salsa music. I've been a dj for 6 years now and I kid you not. The salsa radio station that I found online, that I mentioned earlier, plays almost all the songs you guys mentioned. I'm almost sad to say that I have listened for so many hours at a time that I got Salsa-lash...I had to take a break. :P Willie Colon Idilio has to be hands down one of Willie's greats. Sorry guys, no relation to Rey or Frankie...only in my soul!

Can I join you two? Sounds like it's gonna be my kind of night... Had a lovely dance to "Sey" last night. :)

Hmm, what can we get this DJ to make him play these songs. :) You, me and MacMoto will think of something. They teach On2 here Orlando, FL twice a month in group classes so you mainly have to take privates in order to really grasp it. :? Mostly casino and LA in my area as well which is also cool. :)

More Songs!!!

After coming back from the congress, I have 2 more songs that I want to add to this never-ending thread:

Both by Ray Barreto

Ray Barreto - Acid
Ray Barreto - Swing La Moderna

Hey I'm fairly new to the forum but I just have to post to this one. My favorite songs change every so often but right now I'm really enjoying:

Guarambembere-Bobby Valentin
Acid-Ray Barreto
Ave Maria Morena-Joe Cuba
Clave Mambo(?)-Joe Cuba
Welcome to the Party-Har You Orquestra
Merecumbe-Los Titanes
El Menú-Gran Combo
Azuquita Pal Cafe-Gran Combo
Sonido Bestial-Richie Ray
El Yoyo-Wayne Gorbea

There are more but those are the ones I have in heavy rotation right now. :D
