Last night I was at a charity dinner with live ballet performance from Ballet Russe.
What was fascinating was seeing professional ballet dancers performing in close up -- they were dancing in between a U-shaped arrangement of tables. It was far closer than you'd get at a theatre with the dancers up on stage.
There was some dull material, but also some that was really entertaining and thrilling. The finale was from "Faust" apparently and had two maniacally evil-looking male dancers doing some fabulous aerial work with a female dancer, passing her back and forth between them whilst "witches" cavorted around them. Much fun!
