Now I don't remember every song, but during the PROFESSIONAL LATIN rounds, seems every song I paid attention to... was off the 'Macumba' CD. You guys hearing this??... THE MACUMBA CD!!! for PRO LATIN in the year 2008... YIKES!

The DJ's are usually "Dance Beat", Didio Barrera & Keith Todd

Well that's personal preference, but certainly incredibly OLD (and not "vintage" old either), by anyone's standard. I used to think that Amateur Open Latin and Professional Latin (probably same for Standard) would get at least some of the DJ's favourites thrown in there. Sounded to me like they played whatever Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, etc. happened to be next on the list on the computer.

I did not like th music at all most of the time...I can rmemeber many many times thinking "when is something that isn't ancient going to be played" and very rarely thinking "I love this song"...and the music does matter to me...shrug....oh well, I'm over it...so much else to love about the comp

I believe there maybe be restrictions with the music based on the event being televised. I also think Brent Mills djed the pro events.Brent and DanceBeat are both great djs in my opinion

Precisely...which is why we will probably never get to buy America's Ballroom Challenge on DVD. The costs of procuring music rights for television airings are bad enough; to procure them for DVD home viewing would be downright exorbitant. Case in point: my rare DVD copy of A Muppet Family Christmas, which was only intended for airing on TV, that has whole musical numbers cut out because the cost of procuring music rights were just too high. Guess I'll just have to imagine the scenes of Rolf, Fozzie Bear, and the snowman singing "Sleigh Ride" :(

actually from year to year, because of this, you can notice that they play the same songs over and over again (IIRC, the smooth tango for this year's final is the same version of the libertango that they played for int'l tango in 2006, etc.). this happened throughout the finals.

Ditto for the '06 and '07 pro mambo final music.
