Thanks for this, Mario7; I also find the god-like status accorded to some dance teachers a bit hard to stomach.

However, and this may seem contradictory, beginners and intermediates don't usually improve fast without honest and objective help, and a capable and well-respected teacher is the best person to provide this.

I, too, agree w/ Mario. Having learned/lived in BsAs (too many years ago to care), and understanding the 'essence' (to quote another thread) of AT, the "...this is the only way to do it right..." societies slay me.

Yet, you are not being contradictory, b/c there are many of "us" who teach knowledgably, communally/amicably, and from the heart.

Last lesson before the new year we focused on cleaning up movements, focusing on musicality, and consistency with embrace. It was a very successful lesson. Teacher was pleased and so were we. Then we moved on to the practica, at which point everything we had just done successfully managed to fall apart. Sigh ...
